Have you been taking note of the spring 2020 color trends and which colors are “in” or “out”?
Do the color trends from the catwalks inspire you or do you prefer to wear the colors you already have in your closet?
Spring 2020 color trends – brights
In this article, you will find an overview of the spring 2020 color trends and 10 of the most striking colors to wear this spring and summer, including some shades you wouldn’t expect during the warmer months.
There are also 5 neutrals to wear with them.
I’d love to know if you have a favorite color for spring. Don’t forget to tell me in the comments below.
1. Spring 2020 Color trends: Anything neon
If you prefer a more muted look or you have a closet full of neutrals, this look probably isn’t for you.
However, if you do want to add a little, or a lot, of color to your looks, then go for it.
Neon in all shades, but particularly yellows and greens, was featured on the SS20 runways.
If you don’t want to go all out, you could always add a little neon with your accessories.
Valentino – Christopher Kane – Helmut Lang
2. spring 2020 color trends: Pistachio
Green was definitely the stand out color of the catwalks for spring and summer 2020, and you don’t have to go for neon.
You can choose a more subtle shade, such as mint or pistachio.
This color could be pretty worn with metallic shoes and accessories for a summer event, or you could always team with neutrals such as black or white.

Rochas – Max Mara – Giambattista Valli
3. Flame Red
To stand out from the crowd this spring and summer, you can take a leaf out of the fashion books of Rochas or Prabal Gurung and add some red to your closet.
Many of the looks on the catwalk featured red from top to toe.

Prabal Gurung – Marques’Almeida – Rochas
4. Reliable blue
Pantone’s color of the year for 2020 is a classic blue, and there was plenty of blue to be seen among the spring 2020 color trends.
You could choose a subdued, yet stylish denim blue as show below.
Or try the next option on the list.
Helmut Lang – Chanel – Ports 1961
5. Classic cobalt blue
Cobalt blue is always a stunning shade and is flattering for most skin tones.
You could color block with green as shown below (middle) or you could team your cobalt blue with crisp white.

Alberta Ferretti – Rochas – Ryan Roche
6. Spring 2020 color trends: Turquoise
If you can’t decide between green or blue, there’s no need.
You can choose a mix between the two, and opt for turquoise, which is always a stunning shade for summer. Again, it’s a flattering shade for most skin tones and hair colors.
This shade will look perfect for summer vacations this year.
Marta Jakubowski – Elie Saab – Natasha Zinko x Duo
7. Coral
Another shade often associated with summer, is coral.
If you invested in new coral-colored clothes or accessories last year, it’s definitely worth retrieving them from your closet.
Wear with metallics, white, black or other hues such as lime green. You could choose a summer dress, or wear coral pants or jeans.

Elie Saab – Christopher Kane – Valentino
8. Orange
In the same color family as coral, brighter orange was also a strong trend for this spring and summer.
Interestingly, designers teamed their orange with a huge variety of shades, from pastel purples to beige to shades such as burgundy, which is usually associated with fall.
Take a look at how to wear orange for more inspiration.
Emilia Wickstead – Roksanda – Rejina Pyo
9. Spring 2020 color trends: Saffron yellow
Yellow is the color of sunshine, so it’s only fitting that this shade should have featured heavily on the spring and summer runways.
The trendiest shade of yellow is a saffron shade that’s not quite as dark as a mustard.

Gabriela Hearst – Rejina Pyo – Pyer Moss
10. Burgundies and browns
An interesting one given that browns and burgundies are usually associated with autumnal months.
Designers opted to give their browns and burgundies a summer flair by adding gold or turquoise accessories.
Depending on what shade you choose, you may find these hues can also be worn as a neutral, like the next 5 shades.
Victoria Beckham – Rejina Pyo – Elie Saab
Spring 2020 color trends – Neutrals
Of course, you don’t just have to think about bright colors or pastels during spring and summer, there are also some striking neutral shades to choose from.
If you’re more of a neutrals lover, these are for you.
They’re also for you if you’re looking for some neutral shades to pair your brighter colors with.
1. Beautiful black
Always on trend, never out of style, black doesn’t have to be reserved for winter.
You can wear your black as a pretty summer dress, or a more casual vest.

Helmut Lang – Chanel – Ryan Roche
2. Crisp white
An expected choice for summer, white is always a good look for warmer weather.
Wear top to toe, or team with other neutrals, metallics, cobalt blue or coral.
For more inspiration, check our article on how to wear white.
Gabriela Hearst – Elie Saab – Valentino
3. Ash gray
The reason there are 50 shades of gray, and many more, is because gray is often not just a combination of black and white, but also features other shades.
The most on-trend gray at the moment is one with a hint of purple added into the mix.
For more inspiration check our article on how to wear gray.
Max Mara – Roksanda – Boss
4. Desert sand
Do you think beige is dull? There were plenty of designers who would disagree.
Beige in all sorts of tones was a big feature on the runways, worn with other neutral hues, layered with other shades of beige or given added interest with metallic shoes and jewelry.
Also look at how to wear beige.
Victoria Beckham – Elie Saab – Alberta Ferretti
5. Creamy yellow
Not quite a neutral, but I’ve included it here as it can definitely be worn as one.
While there was the brighter saffron shade of yellow you’ve already seen earlier in the list, there was also a very subtle shade of yellow which was almost cream and could be worn with pretty much any other color you want.
Stella McCartney – Max Mara – Victoria Beckham

Thanks for this overview. I am going to be on the look-out for (neon) green and red. Fortunately I know the colours that suit me.

Red, cobalt, and turquoise are all usually safe bets for me. I’m going to try to add some white or light colored jeans to my spring/summer wardrobe to lighten things up, maybe with some cute metallic sandals. I love the orange with burgundy look – never would have thought to combine those two in a million years but they look fabulous. Not sure if they would work for my coloring, but it’s just a stunning combo.
I love so many of these looks but sadly they are not in my budget. Any change of finding items in a lower price range ?
