Just because a color is on trend doesn’t mean it’s for you. This article will show you the biggest 2024 color trends and how to use them in your own looks, no matter what your style.
What is the trendy color for 2024?
Before discussing how to wear them, what are some of the major 2024 color trends? We take you through what we spotted on the catwalks below, including orange, as worn by Melissa @melissabultburns above, who incorporates this on-trend shade into her preppy outfit.

In this article, we’re concentrating on the color trends for this season, but if you want to think ahead, the fall catwalks were full of reds, plum, orange, greens, and gray.
Cathy @themiddlepageblog above (read her style interview here) opts for metallic shades with white. Gold is particularly on trend right now, but for a more subtle take on the same trend, you could opt for a bronze like Cathy has.

So, what are the color trends for 2024? Below are the 5 key color trends we spotted on the runways.
gold
Alexander McQueen – Ralph Lauren – Rabanne
Gold was everywhere on the runways. You can wear gold top-to-toe or incorporate gold into your neutral outfits. We also love how gold is featured in unexpected color pairings, such as gold with yellow, as at Alexander McQueen.
Cherry red
Burberry – Chanel – Rick Owens
Red is always on trend. If you want to be sure you’re choosing the most of-the-moment red, then look out for a cherry red that incorporates a little bit of blue, rather than an orangey red.

pale blue
Every shade of blue featured on the 2024 catwalks, but the specific shade of blue that was everywhere was the sky blue shade shown above.
Pistachio green
Fendi – Erdem – Bottega Veneta
Just as there was a ‘blue’ that is of-the-moment, there is a green that is particularly on trend and that is the pistachio green shown above.

What to think about when incorporating these colors into your style

Just because a color is on trend, doesn’t mean it naturally fits into your style personality. But there are ways to incorporate a new color into your look, without losing your own style.
Here’s what to consider:
Shape
The shape of your clothes is a big part of your style. So stick to the shapes you love and then simply change up the color. For instance, you may love an a-line skirt or a voluminous blouse. Look out for the same shapes you feel comfortable with in an on-trend shade.
Just a little bit
Add the trendy color with your shoes or accessories to your existing outfits. This is an easy way to update your closet and incorporate new shades.
Think about materials and texture
You can toughen up a color or soften the look with the materials you choose. For instance choose leather, chiffon or satin.
