What to think about when incorporating these colors into your style

Everyone has their own style personality. If you aren’t sure about yours, take our style personality quiz.

Just because a color is on trend, doesn’t mean it naturally fits into your style personality. But there are ways to incorporate a new color into your look, without losing your own style.

Here’s what to consider:

Shape

The shape of your clothes is a big part of your style. So stick to the shapes you love and then simply change up the color. For instance, you may love an a-line skirt or a voluminous blouse. Look out for the same shapes you feel comfortable with in an on-trend shade.

Just a little bit

Add the trendy color with your shoes or accessories to your existing outfits. This is an easy way to update your closet and incorporate new shades.

Think about materials and texture

You can toughen up a color or soften the look with the materials you choose. For instance choose leather, chiffon or satin.

Opt for a more muted or brighter tone of the trend

You don’t have to stick to the exact color from the catwalks. You can look out for more subtle or brighter colors depending on what suits your skin tone.

Challenge yourself

Look at the colors you wouldn’t normally be drawn to and think about how you can fit them into your outfits. By going out of your comfort zone a little you can have fun with your looks.

Look for the brands you love

If there are brands you usually wear, take a look and see if they have adapted the on-trend colors to their (and your) style aesthetic.

Incorporate print

You don’t have to wear the color all over. Instead, you could opt for a different background and a print that features the on-trend shade.

Carmen @carmen_gimeno above wears this season’s red shade with a white background.

Use the color at the bottom of your outfit

If you aren’t sure that an on-trend shade suits your skin tone, then a good way to wear it is to keep it to the bottom of your outfit and wear it on your pants or shoes.

How to add a new color into your style

Let’s look at the main style personalities and how to add this season’s new colors into your style while staying uniquely you.

1. Classic style personality

If you have a classic style personality, you’re all about timeless colors. So, how do you incorporate something that isn’t usually within your style wheelhouse? This is all about shape. For instance, look for a classic, one-button blazer in one of the colors we have shown above.

But you can definitely incorporate fashionable pastel colors like this season’s pistachio green. Choose a Baker Boy cap and sneakers in this color.
