You may notice that I go through phases when it comes to choosing my clothing. I’ve been in my purple /pink phase, most recently the black, white and red phase, and now here are some outfits that feature navy, red and white. It’s kind of a marine look, which I particularly love. I have also featured this marine style before.
All these looks actually came about while shopping my closet. I stumbled upon this blue botton top that I have bought ages ago and which is actually very suitable for Singapore. It’s very airy, light and the longer sleeves are actually very convenient when going to the cinema here (as you will have read in my how to dress for Singapore article).
I was probably looking for an outfit that I could combine with this new Alldressedup necklace that I picked up from their sale. I thought it was perfect for all those outfits that just needed a little bit of extra color! This top suits the necklace so well.
While I was looking for navy, I also came across these navy pants, that have been hanging in my closet for quite a while as well. Somehow, these pants always seemed to be a bit too boring or just not quite right. But after a bit of searching I found this striped top. It has a slightly lighter blue color and although it can be worn with the pants on its own, I thought it would be more interesting to combine it with my wide cotton blouse.
I could have added the red here as well for a bit of color, but I guess liked a more classic and timid look on that day. So I combined it with these mixed stones necklace that I snapped up in Shanghai.
But here is the outfit without the white top, for those that prefer even more simpicity!
I enjoyed wearing these outfits and was happy to rediscover these blue garments that were heavily underused.

It’s always fun going through your closet and creating new outfis. What a beautiful necklace!
Yes, and think outside the box. It’s just too easy (but oh so expansive) to go to the shops all the time…
Hi, I love your expression “shop your closet”! The elegant nautical look never goes out of fashion does it? Modern jewellery always peps it up and it looks so effortless on you. Well done!
Yes I I’m doing more of that lately. It’s a lot of fun seeing what you can do with your existing clothes. A good idea to do that before each season, so you will exactly know which (few) things you need to update your wardrobe. I agree modern jewellery is great and may be just what you need to update your wardrobe.
I do appreciate your style efforts. If I can offer an opinion maybe step up your makeup game and better undergarments. A bra that improves the lift of the boobage.
Yes, I realise that the bra could have been better here, but sometimes I just choose them for color matching and comfort. As for makeup I concede that I’m quite lazy about that. In the end, I suppose, I don’t care enough to have to spend a lot of time on that. I realise I have to improve on that though.
That fedora is too fun and I love the necklace! Thanks so much for linking up to Monday Mingle!
Thanks Kristin. I’ll be there again tomorrow!
I loved the navy pants with the striped top!
Thanks Rashmi!
Your look makes us long for spring! It is minus 4 during the day here with ice and snow so we cannot wait to wear something for warmer weather. The outfits are very classy and look great on everybody no matter what age they are. Hopefully we will see more of your necklace in future posts!
I know. I sometimes worry that my outfit posts will annoy too many women in cold countries. Just add a coat, boots and a warmer cardigan in your mind 🙂 I’m sure I will wear the necklace again. Red is just so versatile!
Love your outfits! I have to try them!
Thanks Nicole!
I love that red fedora! I’ve been looking for a red cardigan for a while too, but I haven’t found anything as perfect as the one you have on.
Thanks Jean. These cardigans are very common here in Asia. You can buy them super cheap everywhere in Bali…
I love The elegance of all these outfits. It makes me want to get a pair of navy trousers!
Thanks Heather. I think you can never go wrong with navy trousers!
I love red, white, and blue. It is “All-American Fourth of July” and Summery and Beachy. You look fresh and cool in both outfits. I admire your attention to detail – the navy belt, red watch band, the fab necklaces – make these looks “you”.
Have you seen any of the NYFW F/W12 runways yet? There are 2 guys named Costella Tagliapietro who showed lots of dresses and the way they draped and were gathered at the center made me think you would love then – lots of black, white, gray, and touches of red too. BCBG had colorblocking and orange on almost every piece. I liked it. I usually adore Tadashi Shoji and have worn his evening gowns in the past but I was disappointed with his show. He has dressed Octavia Spencer both times she won as Supporting Actress (Golden Globes and SAG) so I am thinking he will dress her for the Oscars but maybe not from this collection.
There are many items in my closet that need to be rediscovered! If we are snowed in this weekend I might look for them. 🙂
Hmm, I was born that day, so perhaps that’s where it’s coming from….
I have not yet seen the collections, but definitely will check them out this weekend. Have fun shopping your closet!
Your new necklace is very unique. Looks great with the red/black/white. Navy is one of my favorites! Sometimes closet shopping is more fun than leaving the house. And more economical.
Way more economical! Yes, I’m very happy with the neccklace. For someone that likes basic colors, it’s a great way to add color.
