Fall shoe trends 2020
Below, you’ll find 7 on trend boot styles and 10 shoe trends to try for the upcoming season. Take a look and see if you’d like to add any of these to your wardrobe…
1. Bright boots
If you’d like to take a break from your black or brown boots, how about adding a pop of color? Bright boots in primary colors were all over the runways for Fall 2020, and are sure to add interest to your neutral outfits.
2. Over the knee boots
Over-the-knee boots can be tricky to wear as presumably you aren’t looking for a Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman type of look.
However, designers including Victoria Beckham, Proenza Schouler and Tory Burch showed how to wear them in a stylish, classy way by either wearing over a pair of jeans, or making sure that the hemline of your skirt or dress comes down below the top of your boots.
3. Equestrian inspired boots
You don’t necessarily need a horse for this one, but it might help. Many of the boots on the catwalks were inspired by equestrianism, using the shapes and colors of riding boots, or adding a little buckle reminiscent of stirrup leathers.
4. Rain boots
Practicality and fashion don’t always mix, However, many designers opted to team their outfits with rain boots or wellingtons. Bottega Veneta (below, middle) even paired waterproof boots with evening dresses.

5. All white boots
White boots have been on trend for a number of seasons, and they definitely aren’t going anywhere for winter and fall 2020. So if you already have a pair, then don’t tuck them away in the back of your closet just yet. And, if you don’t, you may be inspired by one of the pairs below.
6. Florals & foliage boots
Florals are often associated with summer and spring, but they can also be beautiful for fall. You could choose bold flowers, as shown at Paco Rabbane (below, middle), delicate florals as featured on the over-the-knee boots at Tory Burch (below, right), or autumnal botanicals (below, left).

7. Platformed boots
If you want to add extra height without wearing stiletto heels, then you could choose a pair of 70’s style platform heels.
Dries Van Noten – Paco Rabanne – Prabul Gurung
Whether you prefer to wear silver or gold, both are on trend for fall. You could wear metallic ankle booties with your jeans or choose a pair of metallic party shoes to go with your little black dress
Louis Vuitton – Oscar de la Renta – Tom Ford
9. Chain details
If you’d like to add a little edge to your outfit, then how about adding a chain detail? Designers adorned their boots with chains, and added delicate chain details that looks like anklets to heeled pumps.
10. Ruched straps
You may or may not have noticed that 80’s style hair scrunchies are on trend right now. Well, while you may not want to wear one in your hair, you could think about giving a nod to the trend via your shoes.
Scrunched up, ruched straps were seen on many of the designer catwalks for fall. Off-white even added three trends in one by combining a square toe with ruched straps and chains.

11. Shearling shoes
Perhaps you’ve been used to wearing slippers or fluffy socks while at home this year. But, don’t worry, you don’t have to give up this cozy feel when you go out. You could always wear a pair of shearling shoes. You could choose ballet flats or, for a real statement, a pair of shearling heels.
12. Beautiful bows
Bows often have a very girly feel. However, designers opted for very different styles for their bow shoes for fall. While Saint Laurent chose gothic styling which may work well for the rock style personality, Salvatorre Ferragamo added bows to a very minimal, neutral look and Miu Miu added some edge with studded toes.
Sequins and sparkles are always on trend for winter and fall, given that you will need shoes to go with your party dresses. You could also wear these styles with pants or jeans and a blazer for a slightly more dressed down look.
14. Menswear inspired
If you’d like to add a slightly androgynous look to your outfits, how about choosing a menswear-inspired pair of oxfords, brogues or loafers? heeled loafers are particularly on trend right now, as are styles which feature two buckles.
15. Toe details
Capped toes are a classic style. Chanel’s cap toe ballet flats and espadrilles, for example, are some of the best known two-tone shoe styles. This season, pointed cap-toe heels and cap-toe boots were showcased on the fall 2020 runways.

16. Vintage style kitten heels
Do you prefer to wear flats or heels? If you’d like to add a little height, but you don’t want a heel that is uncomfortably high, you could think about adding an inch or so with a pair of kitten heels.
