I’m in love….. with this lady’s style. I recently discovered Yasmin Sewell, who is a fashion retail consultant and creative advisor for various fashion brands as well as a trend forecaster.
I love everything about her style. I could wear each of the looks featured here today. I just love her unique, quirky, modern, hip and androgynous looks! And although she is not quite 40+ yet, her style of dressing would be perfectly for many 40+ women.
I recently asked on my Facebook page if you had a style crush as well and here are some of the names that came up:
- Catherine Zeta-Jones
- Stevie Nicks
- Sean Connery
- Judy Dench
- Iris Apfel
- Helen Mirren
- Jenna Lyons (CEO of JCrew)
- Kelly Rutherford
- Francoise Hardy
- Giselle Bunchen
- Girl with curves
I will be on the lookout for more stylish women as I quite like having a style crush.
It can actually be really good to have one as it gives you a lot of information about your own style or ideas about what you want your style to be. If you can clearly define what you like about your style crush’s looks, you will be able to apply it to your own style as well.
I’m definitely going to keep watching Yasmin and may just try to copy some of her looks! It has also inspired me to keep pushing myself and think outside the box and do something different, fun and original!
Let’s discover some more stylish women. Who do you have a style crush on?
All images are taken from my Yasmin Sewell Pinterest Board where you can find all original sources of these images.

Such incredible style, dreamy for sure!
I am impressed by the looks and guts from Konstantina from http://www.serialklother.com/
She always looks spectacular, unexpected and original. Her pictures as well as she herself look radiant again and again. I am neither her age nor do I have her body. Still I love to look at her pictures and outfits.
Other inspirations are Frida Kahlo and the sort of contemporary version of her: Merel, from World Familiy Ibiza. She is a Dutch former photo model. You can find some images of her in this article: http://www.ibizatrendy.com/ibiza/moda/fashion/mercadillos-hippy-markets/desde-el-corazon-world-family-ibiza/?lang=en
Konstantina’s outfits are too extravagant and too young for me to wear, and Frida’s and Merel’s style is too ethnic and hippie for me to wear, but still I am very impressed and inspired by the style of these three women.
Konstantina looks lovely, but indeed young. I am a bit jealous of the sharp photos.
Agree! I am jealous of the pictures too!
I love the serial klother and indeed great images. Let’s try and create some beautiful images of our own next week! No reason why we can’t get them as sharp! (but be weary Greetje, very sharp images can show every wrinkle….)
I prefer good photos over the misery of wrinkles haha.
Wow… Never heard of this lady, but I agree with you. I could everything she is wearing… Well sort of. I will check her out. And all other suggestions. If I ever get time.
I don’t have a style icon. I am a bit worried it would scare me and make me think that what I do is too inferior.
I don’t see it that way. I think that no matter how happy you are with your own style, you can always evolve and challenge yourself. It’s good to get some ideas from others whose style you really admire don’t you think? It does not mean that your own style is inferior in any way!
I know.. it is my character. I get easily defeated when it comes to something I am not sure of or feel I don’t master it. You didn’t know that about me, did you?
I kind of look at women like Yasmin and want to pack it all in, thinking “oh what the heck, what am I doing? I’ll never be this good”.
So I don’t look at them so much. More at bloggers who are better than me but still give me the idea I might get to that level. Or at runway models who are too far out of reach to compare myself with.
Lorraine already mentioned my style icon, Olivia Palermo. Classy and elegant yet always trendy.
Taylor Tomasi Hill – not that I’d wear everything but she certainly has a unique style.
Victoria Beckham (even she doesn’t smile nor eat…) her collection is amazing, I especially love her classy dresses.
Annette
Lady of Style
Another new name to check out. Thanks Annette!
She is indeed modern, sophisticated and androgynous.
I agreed with listing Iris Apfel and Hellen Mirren.
I would add designer Stella Jean, the magazine and fashion enthusiast Shala Munroque and Cristina Hendricks.
Great suggestions. Will need to have a look!
I have already documented my style crush on this site – Olivia Palermo – and was disappointed that my choice didn’t resonate with anybody else until I saw Annette’s (Lady of Style) interview and she also said Olivia!
Will check out her style some more Lorraine! I know that many mention her as a favorite..
I adore Emmanuelle Alt’s style. She is the epitome of cool.
Great suggestion although I do miss that she does not seem to wear skirts or dresses…
I love her style. It’s quirky classic and strong.
YES!
Yasmin is one of my favorites! I have an entire folder of her looks on my computer. Great choice Sylvia!
Great idea!
What great style – that is the type I am aiming for. Another wonderful style icon that I have discovered is Costanza Pescolato. She is 73, the Vogue editor of Brazil Vogue and charming. Garance Dore has interviewed her on her website and Advanced Style also had a photo of her. I think your readers would love to have you feature her.
Thanks for the suggestion Rebecca. I will check her out!
