They all look so beautiful!!! It is hard to choose a favourite. I think number 3, with the jacket.
Mine is #4, however most of the women looked either tired or gaunt or just simply uncomfortable or am I expecting too much? 🙂
I like 1,2,3,7,10 & 16 (I like the sheen on the stripes). It’s amazing how many people wear black and the color does not suit them at all. The woman in 10 does it right, showing enough skin so the black doesn’t overwhelm her.
I love the black dress in #10..
Elegant outfits 🙂

I love no 12. The black suit with silver buttons.
For what it’s worth:
3 – I love her neutral dress with that little fun colourful bag. Exquisite.
8 – The bottom of this dress flutters so madly it might just take off.
18 – Bad girl chic – with pockets!
Although I would wear any of these outfits in a second if I could be on that red carpet too!
Love the striped jacket – double stripes. Yeah!!!
I vote for look #3, chic and elegant. This look is so successful it makes me look forward to getting older. Every element of the outfit is perfect and makes the woman look good.
What’s with the women wearing party dresses and more casual, large handbags (#4, #14, #19)? This totally spoils their look.
Women in NYC often carry large bags to hold their second pair of shoes… #14 is a Gucci after all.
I’m from Manhattan, and the women attending this affair are arriving in taxis or limousines. They don’t need a second pair of shoes, although NYC women sometimes do carry a second pair of shoes to change into when they get to work.
I think the brand of the bag is irrelevant. The fact that it’s expensive doesn’t mean it’s appropriate for the occasion.
Most of the men look sort of awful — rumpled, ill-fitting tuxes or suits. An exception is the lovely couple in #2 — both he and she look marvelous. And I heartily agree with the comments that some ladies almost ruin their look with those everyday bags they are carrying. Also agree on the smiling comments — at least if not a broad smile, one would think an overall pleasant look on the face when you are on the way to such a wonderful event and walking down the red carpet! Some people look downright crabby. (Note to self . . . )
Love the fringy dress on #20!
It’s hard to look cheery while wearing all that black. New Yorkers often block out everything while getting from point A to B. Possibly a by-product of living in NYC. No smiling until you get there safely and on time! They do enjoy the ballet though.
Number 10 and number 17 were my favorites. Some people need to invest in evening bags to complete their outfits. #19 just looks like someone going to work.
Oops just meant the black dress in #10 not the gold one.
#18 is fabulous!
# 17 – Black & gray is simple but well done.
#2–handsdown perfect.
The woman in #3 is so elegant and ready to enjoy the ballet. I also love the fringed dress in #20.
I love the cute lady in #16. She looks super happy and a little like she might be up to something. 🙂
Very nice group of dresses. New Yorkers love their black (and grey)! I’m inspired by the first photo, woman on the left. Her dress is simple and romantic without too much romance. The lace looks are very current but feel kind of bridal to me. I like #13 for its practicality. The column of color (black of course) with beautiful white jacket and colorful scarf is very smart. Considering the decoration on her belt I would eliminate the necklace and maybe wear a larger earring with this look. Different bag and shoes could pump it up a bit.
I agree with you Elaine. The lace dresses look like wedding dresses!
Wow, so few smiles. I am struck by how much better these women would look if they were smiling. I did not fined a lot here I liked…maybe if more smiled it would help.
Women cannot be smiling all of the time. Do they know that they are being photographed? Even if they did, are they required to smile? No one ever tells men they should smile more.
I do! I would like to see everyone smile more! Confidence and joy is intoxicating on men and women! As far as not being aware they are photographed…well, they are on a red carpet and it comes with it! I am not criticizing them for not smiling..it was telling to me how many did not. Of course we don’t all smile 100% of the time…but we can aspire to radiate confidence from within whenever possible…no matter your gender! Have a great day, Elbe!
I agree with Elbe, wholeheartedly.
As a young woman, I was harangued by men who demanded that I smile at them. It was harassment, plain and simple. “An attractive young woman, how dare she not smile at me?!?” An extreme example of this is that I was yelled at at my place of employment by male patrons who told me that I would “…be pretty if I smiled.” That would NEVER happen to a young man. I had attractive young men as coworkers, and of course patrons never demanded that they smile.
It is a real, strange phenomenon that we expect women to smile. Smiling without cause is a form of submission. A smile with cause is a form of enjoyment. I don’t ever like having someone say to anyone that they should smile more, woman or man. My face is fine looking, whether I choose to smile or not.
Love numbers 6 and 12. But for heaven’s sake some of these women ruined their outfit with the handbag they were carrying. Get an evening bag ..don’t carry a business satchel to a gala!
12 – Black and Flowers. Love the pants suit – the jacket is gorgeous. 17 – Black and Grey is a very close second.
I have to say I am in love with the black suit in #12. Love the knee high dress on #1 too!
