It’s no secret that I love asymmetrical clothes.
The unique and often very flattering silhouette they create always appeals to me. I talked about that in length in my article on how to wear asymmetrical clothing.
Today I like to show you some asymmetrical looks I recently wore and will also give you ideas on some fabulous asymmetrical clothing currently available online.
First up, there is my asymmetrical top and skirt from In Good Company which have become wardrobe favorites. The top especially is so comfortable to wear. Although the front is belted the back is unbelted and therefore flowy and breeze for the hot weather.
I also wore this top with my favorite skinny cropped pants from Zara.
Here is the asymmetrical skirt again. This time with a red and white printed top that I acquired in the In Good Company sale.
An asymmetric top also looks fabulous in a casual outfit. This is a super comfortable outfit where I layered a mashed top from Porto (now on sale!) over a long camisole from Stella Carakasi.
Leggings too are from Stella Carakasi. I have them in several colors; they are so comfortable for summer. The necklace makes the overall look more special and adds more dimension and texture to the outfit. I acquired it at a small boutique in Vancouver. You can see how I wore these leggings in another outfit here. Be sure to check this brand for a wide range of fab asymmetrical tops. Another good brand for asymmetric clothing is Eileen Fisher.
Below are some fabulous asymmetrical looks you can currently buy online (visible on website only). For even more options visit the 40+Style symmetrical clothing shop page.

I like your Instagram outfit best. I love these tops on skinny trousers. I was tempted by the blue Nordstrom top (second row, right) which is also very affordable. But not knowing the size and having it ordered from the USA.. not worth the hassle.
All of these outfits look great on you Sylvia. My favorite is the blue top with the white skinny cropped pants. I wish I could wear more asymmetric looks but not many are made in petite sizes and regular sizes overpowering my small frame. I don’t believe they can be successfully altered to fit a petite but I love to see them on tall women!
Hi Sylvia,
Great styling here as usual! Thank you for some spring/summer style inspiration. Of course, I am partial to look #4 but all of these outfits call to me because they are fresh and contemporary. Thanks for making dressing for the week easier.
Thanks for the kind feedback Yarra!
Hi Sylvia! Actually the mesh top in #4 is the Oscar from Porto SF and we have a few left in useful colors,on sale! Of course we love all your outfits!
Sorry about that. I got the brands mixed up 🙁 Have added the link to the shop page now.
OMGosh, I don’t know how you keep it all straight 🙂
The last one is my favorite. I mostly dress casually so I like how comfortable it looks while at the same time being so flattering and chic.
Yes this is definitely the most casual outfit but I always like to add a bit of a dressy element to it!
Oooh…thanks for showing that Inizio top again…I have one in plum but for some reason I forget about it (I think the sleeves get pushed back, so I don’t notice it in the somewhat full closet!!)
I love the asymmetrical looks also—I think they need to start making more pieces with the feature because they are so flattering and interesting!!

ps how can one pick a favorite—they all look great!!
It was actually a Porto top (mixed up the brand). Thanks so much for your kind words!
like the red/white top with the white skirt most – so fresh! xxxx
Thanks Beate!
I like the first one the most! I always love it with a skirt when the back is longer than the front!
Thanks so much for your feedback Nancy!
I like the third one, it is very flattering. Plus I love the layered shirt ends, it adds a femininity appeal.
Thanks Kristen. It’s such a fabulous and unique top!
Number 4 is a sure winner. All are lovely, but number 4 top is just so graceful and feminine.
Thanks J. It’s fun to see how everyone has another opinion.
I like the second one….I am not a fan of skirts with asymmetrical look.
The tops are pretty, do not like the dresses that much either. I like clean lines better.
I feel that many asymmetrical pieces still have clean lines though… Thanks for the feedback!
An add-on to my comment about the last outfit: Summer is so hot and humid here, so I’d like this with thin, wide, drapey pants.
Yes that would be good too, although #3 is the breeziest outfit of the 4…
I like the last one, because it drapes so softly. The thin layers make it seem to be a good one for hot weather.
The Second Outfit, So Fresh.
And so easy to wear… Thanks!
I think I like the first one best because of the bold colours.
bisous
Suzanne
Thanks Suzanne!
