If you have an hourglass body shape, you have a figure that many people covet. However, that doesn’t mean that finding clothes that fit well is easy, particularly when it comes to denim. For jeans, the problem can be that if you find a pair that fit you in the hips, the waist can be too baggy. This article has the answers, with recommendations and tips on how to find the best jeans for the hourglass figure.
The problem
If you’re an hourglass, you will usually have a very defined waist and curvy hips. However, many jeans are designed with a more straight up-and-down shape in mind. This means that jeans that fit you at the waist will be too tight around the hips, and jeans that fit your hips will gape around the waist.
The solution in finding jeans for the hourglass figure
Take a look at the tips below to help you solve the problem and find the perfect fit for you.
1. cHOOSE BRANDS ESPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR CURVES
When searching for the best jeans for the hourglass figure, look out for jeans that are labelled for a curvy fit. These will be designed with a cut that tapers at the waist, so you won’t get that annoying gap. You will find a roundup for the best brands for jeans for hourglass women further below.
Boma @mrs.gaf above chooses a pair of skinny jeans with her blazer. Choosing a blazer that ends at your waist, or which has a belt, is a good idea to show off your curves.

2. Opt for high waists
Higher waists tend to be cut for a curved waist, and they will end at your slimmest point.
3. A darker wash will be most flattering
Patricia @madamechicbcn above (read her style interview here) chooses an on-trend wide leg, which could easily be dressed up or down.

4. choose jeans with some stretch
Looking out for jeans with some elastan or lycra will help you to get them on, and ensure they fit well around your figure, as well as retaining their shape when you wash them.
5. Bootcuts will balance your figure
Because of the flare at the hem, bootcuts are a great way to balance your hourglass curves. However, hourglasses can also look great in straight, skinny and crop flare styles.
Nikki @40notfrumpy above opts for a pair of crop flare jeans. Her outfit would also work well if you are a pear shape as the stripes create width across the top half of the body while the darker wash jeans are flattering on wider hips.
Recreate her outfit with this similar sweater, jeans and booties.
