I love all of them! Playful and sophisticated which is what being 40+ feels like to me! LOVE this blog thank you for saying yes to your passion. Everyone!
#1 & #11 all the items can be separate even in warm climate 🙂
I love #8 the pattetn is fabulous, but why do i feel like I could only pull off #10…..
What’s wrong with #10? I think it is classic and elegant?
I think all these outfits are so wonderful. My heart is drawn to outfit 4, but I do also like the skirt in outfit 2 and shoes in outfit 6.
I have to say because of its quirkiness & eccentricity, outfit number 8 is my favourite & is just so good – the coat is so unusual and bold, and I love the flying helmet. Wonderful outfit and a gorgeous, mischievous smile from the wearer

I am with Suzanne: Outfit #7, the prints and the shape of the skirt is awesome and the coat #8.

without a doubt No.7 is so my idea of stylish. I would wear that in a heartbeat!! also love the coat in No. 8
I would definitely wear #10. Simple yet elegant. 🙂
Max Mara showed a tan and black plaid coat on their runway that was gorgeous! Take a look if you get the chance Rita. 🙂
Thanks, Suzanne! I will check it out! I love Max Mara. We have a store nearby and I go in and oogle everything! I am quite the klutz with clothing (much of it ends up with tea stains, dog/cat hair or snags from kitty claws) so I tend to stick with Nordstrom lower-end lines, Talbots, LL Bean, and Eddie Bauer. I do chuckle when I’m sporting an LL Bean knit top/cardigan and jeans with a pair of Lanvin oxfords and Ferragamo bag. I like to think of it as eclectic! 🙂
In Milan the emerging trend is the color brown. Buyers think it is the beginning of a long lasting change. And the freshest way to wear it is mixed with black – as in a brown and black plaid coat. Marc Jacobs had a lot of muted browns on his runway and so did Michael Kors – but that is not so unusual for him. You don’t have to buy the high end clothing – it will all drift down to stores like Nordstrom (my favorite!) and Talbots. It is fun to just see what is coming. 🙂
Yes, I noticed that too. Not sure if I’m ready to embrace brown again though…
Maybe start slow with brown accessories (handbag, shoes, belts)? I bet the color looks nice on you!
Yes, I still have a few browns. Of course there is also my brown Balenciaga bag!
You could always auction the bag, Sylvia!
I love your Balenciaga bag!!! 🙂
That’s interesting Suzanne. So funny when I’m accidently following a trend…LOL! I don’t wear brown head to toe, maybe a skirt/trousers with a lighter color on top, or a brown top with a lighter color below. I think it’s a rich, pretty color. One thing I cannot do is browns/blues together. I had a boss early in my career that wore all kinds of horrible brown/blue/pale yellow trouser/shirt/tie combinations to work and it scarred me for life! I will wear brown shoes with blue jeans, but even that is a stretch for me sometimes. Funny the things that shape our tastes.
Brown does look good with turquoise, I think….
I had a lot of brown a couple of years ago when I was a little heavier. It’s all gone now I am back to my fighting weight but I could be tempted!
In my experience, if you have the bag and shoes – or even just the bag – people assume that the rest of your outfit is expensive.
I’d say my outfits probably average out, head to toe, to be moderately priced, especially in the summer living in my LLBean and Eddie Bauer tops/shorts/skirts. And since I don’t have a big wardrobe, I figure everytime I wear something the price/wear goes down until I’m practically a bargain hunter…LOL!!! I’ve become quiet skilled at rationalizing my shoe purchase. 😀
The red check coat in 9 is my favourite. Most of the outfits cost quite a few bob, but somehow it doesn’t work for me. Am I a sour puss?
I love the outfit in #7! I saw that style of skirt on some runways and think it is so cute. The extra ruffle adds something special. I’d wear that look from head to toe. 🙂
I do love that skirt in #7 the more I look at it. I would wear that and the shoes for sure!
These are all such great looks. It’s so nice to see pictures of stylish mature women because we do exist. I think I’ve gotten way more into fashion as I’ve gotten older. Maybe it’s because I was too poor back when I was younger. Ha!
The coat in number 8 is awesome. I love it. I also really like the skirt in 7.
I love #4’s coat and #6’s dress! Very strong prints and nothing clashes against them so they shine and just wow (me!).
What an excellent post! I love photos of street fashion and find them a lot more inspiring than runway looks. My favorite ones are 1, 2 and 8. Although some of the outfits are a little too costume-y for my taste, it’s still great to see that having fun with style and fashion really has no age limit. Thanks for sharing!
My favourites are the outfits number 8 and 10. The coats are fantastic!
Yay…another vote for #10. I thought I was going to be it!
Without a doubt # 8 and #7. I’d take that coat or skirt tomorrow.
bisous
Suzanne
I love the jacket on #1 but cannot ever see myself in a miniskirt and high boots — although I’ll say it looks good on her. I love the floral jacket on #4 so much that I think I’m going to look for a floral coat for myself. I’ll wear it late in the season on winters like this one — when we are all longing for spring (freezing rain warning for today — ugh!). #6 looks most wearable for me personally. I love the skirt on #7. As someone with long legs, I think I can pull off longer skirts, so I’m glad to see them coming back. #11 is certainly an inspiration for pattern mixing — something I’m still trying to get a handle on. Very nice.
Coat#4 is Valentino and fabulous. Blaire Eadie wears it a couple of times on her blog Atlantic-Pacific, most recently with wellies.
I also love #8 followed by #6 – the rest are a bit fussy for me.
I’d wear myself #6 but I want the coat in #8. All of these ladies look good and stylish!
blue hue wonderland
Beautiful photos, Sylvia. Love each and every one!
and it makes me want to go out and find a cool coat! that’s what people see on us all winter in a cold climate
Number 11 but all of them are awesome in their own way
Squeak!!!! These are fabulous finds Sylvia! My favourite is #6…I adore the dress and the play of patterns. #8 is a close second. Beautiful coat.
Okay Rebecca…I’d probably love to shop your closet too, since we share #’s LOL.
My favorite is 8 because the coat is unusual and so pretty. I also like 6.
Great style! I really like the jacket in #4 and the great coat in #8.
