For one week now New York has been the centre of the fashion world with many designers showing their new collections for spring and summer 2014 at New York Fashion week.
Almost just as exciting is the street style showcased in the New York streets. Let’s have a look at what some of the fabulous fashion 40+ women were wearing!
I love the outfit of the woman above who is having a lot of fun with fashion!
Sophisticated chic below, with both women using accessories to add an extra dimension to their looks.
Linda Fargo is keeping it simple with the on-trend wider top with large sleeves to make a statement.
2 very different outfits with the left one being casual understated chic and at the right a daring combination with black leather.
Making a very colorful statement!
Although I can’t be quite sure that these ladies are indeed 40+, I love both these looks which would look fabulous on many women over 40.
Exuding confidence in this tomboy chic look!
Not quite sure if this is the famous Lynn Dell, but she sure stands out in this wonderful polkadot suit.
Understated elegance with neutral color blocking outfits. I have seen a very similar blue skirt at Zara. The fabric is quite thick, so it is unsuitable for Singapore, but I would highly recommend this skirt to anyone looking for a very on-trend a-line skirt that comfortably covers the knees.
A special thank you to Denton Taylor who took all these fabulous images in the streets of New York. Be sure to check out his photography website.
Which is your favorite streetstyle outfit from the above?

Well, it’s certainly eye-catching but there is very little there that I’d wear if you gave it to me. A couple of things – the leather blazer is excellent. It’s “statement” clothing, and not really inspiring for me.
Some exceptionally well dressed women with class. Some rather daring looks i Myself would be to timmed to pull off. But wonderful to see. Thank you for sharing
Last night (Sept 17th) there was a TV programme on called ‘Fabulous Fashionistas’, which follows the lives of six women with an average age of 80. None have had Botox or plastic surgery.
I recorded it and haven’t watched it yet but in the review one of the women, who is 90, is quoted as saying: “It is important not to let yourself go. The moment you do, is the moment you are old.” How wonderful!
yes, very true!
I love the first photo! But your entire line-up is fabulous and inspiring. Thanks Sylvia!
Sylvia, thank you so much for sharing my photos. Hopefully we can do it again in six months. I love all of your comments! So inspiring and enjoyable. Even when I was twenty I never thought that beauty was to be found only in the young (altho I hardly find forty to be old these days lol). Thanks everyone!
It was entirely my pleasure. Thanks so much for the privilege. I would love to feature your photographs again for next fashion week!
I LOVE the 1st pic!! Gorgeous! So brave but very tastefully!
Never seen pics of ladys 40+ from fashion-week, everywhere only can see photographs of the very young and very thin girls. Thank you so much for this post!! 🙂
Have a wonderful week

I know it’s fantastic. I’m very grateful to Denton for taking these pictures!
LOVE IT!!!!! These women look amazing! I have always been an admirer of Linda Fargo.

Adore the look with the leather jacket! I’d wear it head to toe… well, I assume the shoes are just as fab 😉 And the flower necklace looks amazing. I’d pair it with something more simple to keep with my style, but luv, luv, luv it!!
Thanks for sharing. xo ~kim
I am loving the leopard purse. I have something like it.
HOw GLORIOUS TO SEE SOMEBODY WHO IS NOT 20 AND SIZE O ONLY, AHHHHHHHHHHHH
SO INSPIRING
I like the first one. Proof that your hair can be gray and you can still dress gorgeous!
I have to say, in my opinion the long black ruffled leather number is just awful, even if she has the body for it. It has a train? In leather? I don’t think so.
I like the blouse Linda Fargo is wearing also. Trendy, but not over the top.
I cannot choose – I want all look and style! Perhaps the first one: the lady wears so happily her outfit and she is in a really good shape, shining, attractive. I would accept each of her pieces.
Wow! So interesting to see how some women dress. Most of those fashions I have never seen before – very unusual pairing on some of them. Basically I’m (almost :-)) speechless – the outfits are so unusual and bold – I haven’t seen women dress like that here.
nice collage! it’s good to see 40+ women during fashion week. the deluge of fab looking young fashionista photos is really bad for my confidence. i usually get into a funk after fashion week’s over.
Wow, what fabulous style can be had with a clutch, great posture, and confidence : ). Thank you, Sylvia.
I love seeing what real women are wearing, rather than the catwalks. Thanks Sylvia.
Great post Sylvia. Makes me smile. All women look fab, but pic. 1 looks especially powerfull. Absolutely great looking grandma.
My favourites are Linda’s white blouse (although for summer and not for winter in cold Holland). And the top red suit, which I would definitely wear with a top underneath hahaha.
The daring combination of the perfectly shaped woman in the black leather skirt, gives me inspiration to style my black leather skirt whoo hahaha. LOL Joke. Can you see me walking around like that? But she is striking.
Best is the first picture to me. Really fun combination.
Good to see the 40 plus crowd was at the party and looking fabulous!
blue hue wonderland
Great looks! If my body was that great I’d be showing it off just like the lady in the black body suit with cutouts and skirt. Wow.
bisous

Great fun. Thanks for sharing!
