In winter and cooler weather it’s all about layering. This is a great tool for transitional weather as well.
Here are some looks I wore during my stay in Europe a month ago and many of these are perfect for a transitional wardrobe (going from winter to spring) for February.
I did not get a chance to photograph many of the clothes I wore during my stay in Europe, but on a this winter afternoon, I managed to enlist the services of my friend Greetje (from the terrific blog No Fear of Fashion) to photograph and also to show you how she wore some of my clothes.
Many of these pieces are still available (and on sale) and I think they’re perfect timeless pieces.
This is the printed artful dodger tunic (another option here) that is wonderful to wear on its own or layer with both a short jacket (as above) or with a long cardigan (similar here). This cardigan has beautiful texture, is not too thick and the perfect layering piece for transitional weather. Shoes are from Antelope Shoes (more details in this article).
The top looks great on its own too, due to the unique design.
Greetje shows you how good a long layering vest with asymmetric detailing can look on her inverted triangle shape. The short top puts emphasis on the waist while the longer layer creates a balanced silhouette in the overall outfit. Perfect for wearing with her over-the-knee boots.
Here is another top that she could wear with the high boots (no longer available).
This high-low jacket is another unique layering piece from Stella Carakasi and definitely for cooler weather as this is made from wool.
Over the knee boots look really good with longer tops and a long sleeveless coat is the perfect layering piece. It’s perfect for Greetje who benefits from tighter tailoring on top and v-line shapes at the bottom.
Here Greetje is wearing my necklace from In Good Company which is one of my favorites at the moment.
Her wearing it may be the reason I forgot to add it to this outfit. Wearing same blouse as above which also looks perfect with a short jacket (this is an old jacket from my other favorite brand In Good Company). My left sleeve had fallen down but it’s definitely better to scrunch up the sleeves so it will put even more emphasis on your waist.
All Stella Carakasi clothes can be bought at an additional 15% off if you mention the code 40plus15 (first time buyers only).

You and Greetje always have so much fun together! Great layering looks!
We do. Hopefully one day you can be a part of it!
Both you and Greete look fantastic. I love all the looks. I am a great fan of layering. I have to be where I live. Ha ha!! I also like how both you guys dress for your figure shapes. Great job – well done.
Yes me too. Tough to do here though as it’s so HOT!
You took good photos. You cannot really see that I am wearing an XS while I am a Large haha.
Greetje
You looked great in that vest Greetje!
