In winter most women resort to darker clothes. Perhaps it feels more comfortable and safe as you easily blend in with everybody else.

Why we want to blend in so much is another matter and I wrote an article about this topic here, if you’re interested.

Having fun with color in winter |

Instead of blending in and making the darker days even more sombre, it’s much more fun to wear color in winter, which can be easy to do. It may just lift your mood as well!

Just combine your colorful tops with your favorite neutral pants or jeans and you’re ready to go.

If you want to to add color in a more subtle way, try adding a few colorful accessories to your neutral outfit.

Here is one of my favorite outfits from my recent winter holiday. It’s a jacket I acquired a year ago in the sale. I have shown it to you before here and here.

This time I decided to belt the jacket. I wore my Uniqlo heattech top underneath, so this outfit is cozy and warm. I highly recommend these Uniqlo heattech tops for cooler weather as they allow you to layer and create nice outfits without getting bulky or cold. (see below’s shopping widget for some options).

Greetje opted for color as well. Like me she loves to wear white in winter. I love her outfit with the striking top and suede over-the-knee boots.

As always, Greetje’s mission is to make you laugh!

Winter outfit idea: cream pants and boots |

And yes, it was COLD outside which meant getting comfy and warm when stepping out the door. This outdoor look achieves that. And even though Greetje opted for black this time as her outer coat, the contrast with the white pants and oversized black and white scarf made for a great contrast and an interesting outdoor look.

Apart from the Uniqlo top, the items shown here are no longer available, but here are some shopping options inspired by the above looks.
