Welcome to day 5 of the 40+Style Casual Summer Style Challenge where we create 10 different outfits from only 9 pieces! This challenge is now finished but you can still participate and get the complete shopping list and all outfits. Just Click below to get access!
The outfits continue to flow into the community and it’s so much fun to see how you all interpret the looks. You are telling me that you are having fun too and are learning heaps about how to style your outfits better. So great to hear!
I’m also very pleased to read that many of you are shopping your closets and are rediscovering some of your older clothes again. Sometimes you just need to play a little with your clothes and get new ideas to bring life into your own pieces. It’s great to see how you are all inspiring each other!
Let’s get started with outfit 5
Asymmetrical top or vest
Of course I had to include at least one asymmetrical top into the capsule (although my flower blouse is asymmetrical too :)) Asymmetrical lines add extra interest and are often very flattering. For even more options for asymmetrical tops check this page.
My particular asymmetrical top also doubles as a vest which makes it great for layering.
- Stella Carakasi (in stone)
- Nordstrom
- Pleione
(sheer) flower blouse
Flowers and pastels are right on trend this summer and they are easy to wear if you opt for a subtle print like the first blouse pictured. If you opt for a sheer blouse, you will get a lovely layered effect. Feel free to pick a blouse without print if flower prints are not your thing.
Chinos
Chinos with a bit of stretch are super comfortable and they are great for casual occasions. A boyfriend style model looks the most relaxed.
How I styled outfit 5
The idea behind outfit 5 is to layer your sleeveless asymmetrical top over your sheer blouse. It’s another way to wear sheer (see how I styled it over a camisole before) and creates many more wearing opportunities for the blouse.
I can wear my top both closed…
And open as a vest.
I love buying pieces that are unique and that give me various options as to how I can wear them.
For both outfits I again kept my shoes comfortable but these wedges have some height too. These kind of wedges are ideal if you still like to get some extra height while still wanting comfortable shoes.
