Regular readers of this blog know that one of my favorite bloggers is Heather from The Style Confessions. I did an amazing interview with her on body confidence a while ago, that you may want to check out. It has some incredibly gutsy photos of her in bikini!
What she did not reveal, until recently, is that she is also a very talented fashion illustrator. Although I knew that she designed dolls as her profession, I was actually blown away by her amazing illustrations when she started sharing them on her blog.
I very much like to share some of my favorites with you here today. First up are some of her doll creations and after that several fashion illustrations.
Heather is available for illustration work, so if you need a talented illustrator for your next design project or book, don’t hesitate to contact her.
If after seeing this you feel the urge to start drawing yourself, I just downloaded the app Paper by FiftyThree. It allows you to create stunning drawings in minutes. It’s the tool Anja used for her gorgeous drawings in my style ebook and I think I’m going to have fun with is as well. For those that sew, it may be a helpful tool to start sketching your own designs!
How are your drawing skills? Where do you use most of your creativity?

Wow! what an artist. I share the passion of sketching, but she is super!!
Thank you so much for posting this Sylvia! And to everyone who wrote such sweet compliments in the comments thank you! You’ve really made my day.
Great! You’re very welcome 🙂
I love Heather. Have been following her blog for a year now. Found her through 40+Style. She is indeed a very lovely person with loads of talent. We have a famous Dutch fashion sketcher called Piet Paris. He is really well-know. Heather could be the next Piet Paris in my opinion. What a talent.
I have no creative talents. Alas.
I follow Heather on The Style Confessions and if I were only half as talented as she is I’d be ecstatic!
Although I’m currently out of commission while I go through Orthopedic Therapy for my dominant hand I’ve been a 3D artist for years. I do primarily do pinup and “grownup” fantasy pieces for websites, CD covers, and wall art. If anyone is interested in having a look I have a link to my portfolio at the very bottom of my fashion blog.

Alicia – I just looked at your portfolio and WOW! You are an amazing artist! I would give a disclaimer though that your site might not be safe for all work environments. 😉 But you are SO talented! I knew you would be the minute I saw your purple boots. Any girl who wears purple boots has to be awesome. Thank you for sharing with us.
You just made my night, Suzanne! Thank uou so much for your kind compliments! Yes, my art is for grownups. There is artistic nudity and suggestive imagery. Not for little kids 🙂

Great artworks Alicia!
Thanks so much Sylvia for the wonderful compliment!

I worked with Heather at Mattel, she’s so creative and a GREAT person!
Oodles of talent, and my fashion blogging mentor.
That app looks interesting! I’ve been drawing with the Brushes app on my phone and tablet, but this looks easier, perhaps. I’m going to give it a try. Haven’t found anything digital fast enough to draw models in motion yet… still analog with a brush tip marker on paper, then scanning to color on the computer.
You have amazing talent! These drawing are beautiful. And Sylvia, I can’t wait to try the app although I guess you still need some talent and it doesn’t draw things for you! LOL! I have always wanted to draw cartoons. I see funny things all the time that I want to capture!
Sadly I couldn’t download the app as it’s an Apple one but looking for an alternative…..
Ah, Heather is such an incredible talented woman- and her illustrations show her love of fashion so clearly! When I “met” Heather she just had her design blog- and even though I wasn’t into dolls I would read regularly- because she also is an engaging writer as well. When she started her personal style blog, I was blown away by EVERYTHING: the photograhy, the writing and her INCREDIBLE personal style. I’ve been lucky enough to meet her in person and let me just say I am glad I did- she’s gorgeous, warm, genuine and down to earth, and it feels good to know that so much substance and talent can be housed in such a lovely package.
Back to drawing- I can’t draw for shit, excuse my French. I am lucky to stumble onto photography, thanks to digital and admire anybody who can draw a lick! Thank you for showcasing Heather and her talents. It is always a treat to see anything Heather does.
Yes Heather is very talented and I love her blog too. I also want to try Paper by 53 and have already downloaded it. I didn’t realise Anja used it for her illustrations which were lovely. I am trying to get back into drawing again and all these are great inspirations. Thank you!
She is stylish and very talented! I still cut my fashions magazines and bring then with me during my thrifting adventures.
Very talented! Yes, Suzanne, I homed right in on those gorgeous prints and that adorable handbag in the Gypsy Chic drawings…and the colors, too. 🙂 That last drawing is truly a work of art.
She’s fantastic! I’m blown away by her talent, too!
Heather! You. Are. Amazing! SO talented! These are as good as Isabel Toledo and she is my hero.
The “Gypsy Chic” reminds me of Rita and I am the chick in the biker jacket! LOL! Bill Cunningham says this is THE jacket of the year and Paris girls are wearing it with everything.
I hope you get “discovered” Heather. Just remember we were your fans first. 🙂 Best of luck to you.
Just so you know, Isabel’s husband Ruben does her illustrations.
But the collection is Isabel’s, correct? She is the designer. And aren’t these Heather’s designs? Maybe I misunderstood. I love the clothes. 🙂 And the illustrations too.
You said: “These are as good as Isabel Toledo and she is my hero.”
Maybe you meant Isabel’s designs, I took it to mean the illustrations.
Sorry for the confusion — I’ve admired both the Toledos too, since the 80s!
And yes, above are Heather’s designs AND illustrations.
Amazing, right?
LOL! I just got too excited about Heather’s clothes! We are trying to get our resident engineer, Rita, (who might wear a pencil behind her ear but NEVER ugly shoes!) to embrace her “Gypsy soul” so I was happy to see Heather’s Bohemian designs. And I am really into the short leather jacket look right now so it was too much of a good thing all at once. 🙂 Heather is both a great designer and illustrator.
I am aware of the Toledo’s work because a few years ago they did a lot for Nordstrom and that is my second home. Truly.
Are you an artist too Anne? I can not believe how many truly gifted women are active on Sylvia’s site. Anja, Aileen, Heather, and Alicia are all so talented. I can not draw stick people! 🙁 I am in awe of artists.
I’m with you, Suzanne…smiley faces give me trouble! LOL! So many talented ladies here! I’m going to have to post a pic of the cute little oxford shoes I bought (at Nordstrom…my second home, too!) last week. While oxfords aren’t exactly gypsy-wear, they have a woven/crochet inset and a pretty crinkly ribbon for shoe laces, with a very subtle rose hue to the leather and fabric. Pretty, and a smidge gypsy, I think. 🙂
My daughter has notebooks of outfits she has drawn of fashion she would like to sew. She has been doing it since she was 12.. definitely going to show her this, thank you for posting..
