Although I added a lot of color to the capsule I also enjoy wearing black and white. These pieces can be worn in the black-and-white way, but can also be layered with other items in the capsule.
Today, let’s indulge in black an white!
I like tops that both look great on their own as well as a layering piece. This blouse is a perfect example. Due to its unique asymmetric design, it’s fabulous when worn on its own but also looks great when combined with a blazer (or a knitted jumper as I will show you later on).
For a bit of color added to your face, you can play with accessories. I added my turquoise fish necklace here, but a colorful scarf would be great too.
This necklace adds even more color and makes a bolder statement.
Or you can just stick to black and white.
All these pieces have been very successful. I prefer to wear the blouse with my cream skinnies so as to avoid too much black and have found it a great layering piece. Here in Singapore I can just wear it on its own.
Your challenge
Create 2 outfits from your capsule. One where you wear a blouse with pants on its own and one where you layer it with a blazer.
Be as creative with accessories as you like!
Want to show me and all the other women in our community your looks? Upload them to the private Facebook forum (style course members only), the 40+Style Facebook page or add a link to your photo in the comments below. If you managed to assemble your own capsule wardrobe, I’d love to see images of that also. I may even share some of the images in the next mini challenge post for those that like to.
I have been very inspired with your looks so far and love to see you all having fun with fashion!

You look stunning. Definitely a look I would love to replicate for myself. The shirt is too fab for words.
I knew you would appreciate this look Deborah. I could totally see it on you!
Trouble with blouses is… they don’t close properly over the girls. It is hard to find a blouse that does. Big danger of always buying blouses too big.
Your white one is fantastic. I would not have bought it as this neckline looks terrible on me (although who knows with a necklace??). For the rest I love it. And the jacket…. fantastic. Looks like a tuxedo which I love.
The necklaces are of course beautiful.

Yes they can be tricky. This one is not tight at all. Stella C clothes run big and I have an XS for all clothes from them. The V neck is not so deep so I find it quite handy as it’s very easy to combine with statement necklaces and very easy to layer. The jacket is so comfy; I even wore it in the plane! You will see all of these up close Greetje as I will definitely bring them to The Netherlands (already less than a month from now!)
Love black and white, so versatile. But being a summer blue, red and white always does the trick for me 🙂 xo Sabina @Oceanblue Style
Yes blue is slightly warmer so often a good choice!
Lovely Looks.
Beautiful classic looks, Sylvia – and I love the statement necklaces and modern booties! xox
Thanks Patti. The booties were such a good buy. Love them!
