The most important thing to look out for when choosing a foundation is whether the foundation contains SPF protection. Most foundations do include SPF protection, although it may be very limited.
However, that doesn’t mean you will have to apply sunscreen on top or change your foundation. It just means that you need to apply an SPF Primer before applying your foundation.
When purchasing foundations with SPF and SPF Primers, you are better off investing in a trusted product, rather than wearing cheaper versions. It’s your skin after all!

I have very fair skin with freckles so sun protection is a must for me. For a number of years I have used Clinique Super City Block Broad Spectrum 40 SPF, a tinted product, for everyday. When I want more coverage I have used Shiseido Sun Protection Stick Foundation SPF 37 with Shiseido pressed powerSPF 30 however they offer a limited number of shades and lately the Light shade I’ve been using for years is looking kind of yellow on my skin. Recently I tried Clinique Moisture Surge SPF 15 foundation with the Super City Block and am pleased with the results. Good coverage and color match but very sheer. Does not look like I’m wearing foundation.
I use Mineral Fusions spf 40 moisturizer as my base. I love it.
Foundation is something I never use. Strange but true.

Thank you for this list. I had 2 spots of basal cell carcinoma removed from my nose this year at the age of 44. I am very fair, and while I haven’t tried to “tan” since my teens, I should have taken better care of my skin in my 20s and 30s. Wear your SPF, ladies!
I’m using L’Oreal’s Miracle Blur as primer and sunscreen (spf 30), often I don’t add anything over it except blush. Good list here!
