Slipping into a bathrobe at the beginning or end of the day is a great feeling. Just think about how you feel at a plush hotel when you get to your room and pop the bathrobe on. In this article, you’ll find the best robes for women and warmest dressing gowns to snuggle in during the cooler months, so you can get that hotel feeling at home.
A robe can be a great way to keep warm, cover-up and to give yourself a hug. You can pop your dressing gown on over your pajamas in the morning and evening, or wear over anything at all if you’re feeling a little chilly at home during the day.
The best bathrobes for women to choose
Now, let’s take a look at some of the coziest, and most recommended robes you can find, either for yourself or to buy as a gift.
Best robes for women: Alexander del Rossa plush robe
For extra warmth, you could choose a robe with a hood. The Alexander del Ross plush robe (below) should keep you cozy even on the coldest of nights. Reviewers say it runs large, so if you like an oversized robe, this could be the perfect fit. Otherwise, size down.
Barefoot Dreams
The Barefoot Dreams robe (below) looks classy and sophisticated. It is lightweight, yet warm and is made from microfiber yarn that shouldn’t shrink or pill, making it one of the best women’s bathrobe options if you are looking for a robe with longevity.
CozyChic Ultra Lite™ Long Robe
Honeydew Intimates
If you are looking for the best robes for women and you prefer a shorter robe at bedtime or when getting out of the shower, the Honeydew Intimates robe (below) is thigh-length so it should fit the bill. Plus, the faux fur adds an extra element of warmth.
Softest women’s robe: Just Love bathrobe
Looking for a super soft robe? The Just Love bathrobe (below) may be the one. One reviewer said it felt like wearing a cloud.
Velour Scalloped Texture Bath Robe
KEMUSI hooded long kimono robe
With an oversized hood and a shawl collar, the kimono robe from Kemusi (below) is designed to be worn for warmth rather than absorbency, so it’s not one for popping on as soon as you step out of the shower. But, it does have good ratings for softness and warmth, with one reviewer saying it feels like a cozy blanket you can wear.
Some reviews say this one runs small, particularly if you have a large chest, so you may want to go up a size.
L.L. Bean
Plush on the outside and fleecy on the inside, the snuggly robe from L.L. Bean (below) should keep you cozy on cold mornings. It has 5* reviews from wearers who say it is perfect if you live somewhere very cold. It comes in either navy, pale blue or dusky gray so you should find the best bathrobe color for you.
Lauren Ralph Lauren
If you want to give yourself that hotel bathrobe feeling, then a white bathrobe could be one of the best robes to choose. The subtly-patterned Lauren Ralph Lauren robe (below) has lots of 5* reviews from wearers who say it is the perfect length, thickness and softness, and is warm without being too heavy.
Marimekko
Most robes come in a block color, but if you want something a little different, you could opt for a print. The Marimekko robe (below) features timeless polka dots and is made from soft cotton terry toweling material, so it should be one of the best dressing gown options for when you get out of the shower or bath.
Matouk waffle weave robe
Waffle weave is particularly on trend for lounge wear this winter so the texture of the Matouk robe (below) is perfect for the upcoming season. It comes in a range of soft neutrals and pastel shades and the material is described as “thirsty” so it should quickly dry you off after a shower.
Natori plush robe
The Natori robe (below) has a subtle chevron pattern which feels like a stylish nod to the 1970s. Choose form blue or cream. One review said it runs small, so you may want to get a larger size than usual.
Natori zip robe
While most robes have a waist tie, you could choose a zip fastening. This is particularly useful if you like to zip right the way up to your neck to stay warm. The zip-up Natori robe (below) comes in this wine shade or a soft cream. Plus, the shearling detailing to the cuffs and neck should provide extra warmth.
Faux Shearling Trim Velour Caftan

These are lovely Sylvia. The Natari looks to be full-length? That’s always a bonus, imo. I hope you’ll consider doing one on nightgowns to go with them!
One of the best Christmas gifts I ever received was a house robe ‘project’ by my husband and late mother-in-law (a retired seamstress, who was in pain from what we thought was her arthritis but turned out to be undiagnosed cancer). She passed away a few months afterward, so these are precious.
I always hated bathrobes that end mid-calf and leave my ankles exposed (winters here in Canada can be COLD). So my husband bought a number of robes for my MIL to alter: she trimmed the bottom off of half of them, turning them into knee length robes for spring/fall, and attached the trimmed off length to the bottoms of the remainder, making them full length! They used fuzzy housecoats so you could barely see the addition. They had so much fun planning this they got a little carried away. So I ended up with 6 or 7 housecoats that Christmas – including one hemmed at waist length for reading in bed (surprisingly useful!) The full length ones are such a delight when the weather is cold that I don’t want to take them off!
My MIL had so much fun doing this with my husband, and they laughed and laughed as I opened housecoat after housecoat! This was her last Christmas with us, and it’s a memory I’ll cherish as I wear her lovely, warm robes.
