As you may know I went to Etosha Park in Namibia this summer. I already shared pictures with you here from our first day in the park. We spent a total of 3 days in Etosha park as we thoroughly enjoyed driving through the park in search for wildlife.
As you can tell from these pictures, we spotted quite a few.
We were absolutely thrilled to see lions this time, my first time ever spotting lions in the wild. Although I saw this big fellow walking, I was too late with my camera to ‘catch’ him. He then decided to lie down and did not get up for the next half hour. As you can tell, he was watching us closely though…
A day later we saw a few more lions. This one was still active in the early morning.

As you can see the animals rule the park. They are not afraid of cars at all and are happily walking on the roads.
We spotted quite a few hyenas. This one was cherishing a bone.
We spotted this one close-by.
We saw this this bird quite often too.
We spotted lots of warthogs on the road while driving through Namibia. Not so many in the park itself but here was one lonely crusader.
And we spotted a few jackalls.
And of course plenty of giraffe.
My outfit is not so different from the one I showed earlier, with the exception that now I wear shorts. As the weather gets hotter throughout the day, it’s actually really nice to wear shorts. These were bought last-minute at H&M where I also bought the shirt. I wore the hat every day too and by the end of the holiday it was completely worn out.
How to arrange a wildlife safari in Etosha Park, Namibia
Some of you asked about how we arranged this holiday so here is a little info on that.
We basically arranged everything ourselves. Booked our flight tickets online (flew with Namibia Air from Frankfurt airport directly to Windhoek Namibia). We booked our hotel online too: Emanya. A beautiful lodge close to Etosha Park (about 20 minutes drive). Accommodation was good and staff very friendly, but there are a few lodges a bit closer to the park which would mean even less driving time like Mushara which you could consider.
My husband would have liked 1 or 2 nights in the park itself as they tend to have nicer waterholes where the wildlife comes at night and in the morning but the accommodation there tends to be overpriced and not so nice.
We did all the travelling in a 4-wheel drive that we rented (also booked online).

That is a dream trip of mine. Thanks for sharing the info on your trip and the photos. Beautiful! I definitely live in shorts in warm weather, though my legs aren’t as nice as yours. I have been opting for sporty skirts lately, though, as a lot of times that is more comfy and can look a bit nicer out running errands.
I actually wear shorts very often here in Singapore but as loungewear in the home. But that is a topic for another article I’m planning…

Yes that is because it’s so dry in Namibia. The advantage is that you can probably spot more animals because of this. In winter there is not that much water so animals will have to come to the waterholes to get some…
A friend of mine went on a safari trip to the Zerengeti. She told some funny stories about staying in a tent there. Apparently each tent received an allotted amount of water but had to hope that the elephants didn’t drink their allotment during the night!
Also, while driving in the jeep, she told the driver she needed to go to the bathroom, so he just stopped the jeep for her to go outside. Unfortunately, there was a group of elephants waiting outside so she ran back to the jeep just in time because the elephants started to chase it.
Wow that sounds scary! 20 years ago I slept in tents too and we had elephants strolling through out site.. This time I took a more luxury approach…..

Yes, we did but got more weary on our last day in the capital Windhoek. All the houses are barred there and this reminded us more of how things were in South Arica. We were more on our guard in the city and at traffic lights… By the way, Windhoek is not worth visiting at all. Very ugly city with nothing to see. Might as well skip it when you’re there and go straight to the airport!
