Yesterday I showed you a few fabulous looks from the Fabulous Fashionistas Event I attended in New York.
Here is what Suzanne Carillo and I are wearing. Together we sported quite the reggae vibe!
Since we were guests of the always colorful Sue Kreitzman, I really wanted to wear color for this day. I picked this red dress from a consignment store earlier (more details on my consignment and resale shopping in New York in a future article).
The dress is a little bit different from what I usually wear. More feminine and girly. It’s a bit of a risk and I did not quite feel completely like myself, but I was attracted to the great fit, fabulous color and fabulous silk fabric. I took a few more risks with my consignment shopping as the prices were lower and I felt like stepping a bit out of my comfort zone. Time will tell if this dress is a success.
I put my hair in a little bun and adorned it with a rose.
Suzanne felt like wearing color as well and she stepped out in one of her signature maxi dresses, fitting right in with all the other fabulous fashionistas at the event.
We met many spectacular women that afternoon as I have throughout my 3-month trip. Suzanne expressed a lot of what I feel in a blog post she wrote about the event here. Here is an excerpt:
“Meeting such fierce females refusing to allow age to dictate their lives turned on a faucet of hope inside me which slowly began to fill my body with optimism. Contrary to what we’ve been told all our lives as women, maybe, just maybe, the second half of our lives is a fresh opportunity. We’ve made it this far. It isn’t the end of our dreams, but the beginning of new ones. The chance to change, discover, create, love, live.
As comets we are closer towards the end of our lives than the beginning, but we should be burning brighter and bolder using every drop of energy to remain vibrant, vital and dynamic.
The only person standing in our way is ourselves.”
I couldn’t agree more and feel more energetic than ever to take on the second part of this life journey!
What would you wear to a Fabulous Fashionista documentary showing?

Love love and love that red dress on you. You wear “The Lady in Red” look very elegantly. You look like you own that look. And the red rose in your hair is the cherry on the sundae. Also, Suzanne looks amazing in that long dress.
Wow, that red dress is a keeper! You look young and vibrant in it!
That red dress is gorgeous on you Sylvia. As Greetje and Melanie have said sometimes we need to push our edges out a little bit further because often they are further than we think and then we have more to play with.
And Suzanne looks amazing in her maxi – so right up her street.
And we should absolutely be bolder and brighter. Bravo, Suzanne.
You both look absolutely gorgeous – and happy too 😀 Loving the accessories of both your outfits 🙂
I almost missed this post! What a tragedy that would have been because you and Suzanne look amaaazing. BAM! Suzanne is a gifted writer and a great stylist, clearly. I love your fluttery red dress and am happy you are giving it a go. Like Greetje said, we need clothes that fit every range of how we feel. Gorgeous.
Both of you ladies look fabulous!

Oh wow… I so wish I had been there with you two.
Suzanne has a way with words. She put it so eloquently. Indeed the future is bright. What I experience when meeting 40+ women is nothing but fun and laughter and confidence.
Now for your dresses: Suzanne’s maxi dress is a treasure. I have already commented on it on her blog. She looks so good in it. And Ilike the wooden accessories she chose.
As for your red dress…. what a fabulous figure you have. The dress shows that so well. I think it is gorgeous. Yes, it is more elegant and ladylike than you are used to. But there are days that you feel like that. Like me, you have many different styles. Endulge in each one. I am not wearing my DvF dress every day either, but there are days when I feel like it. And then such a dress like your beautiful red one is so nice to have. For sure you know the dress makes you look fabulous.
You both look great! The tribal print is so striking and I particularly like the all red outfit. The dress fits so well. It’s good to deviate from our comfort zones now and then and summer seems like the perfect time to do it.
Such great pictures of you both! This dress is fab on you Sylvia. Adore the fit and details, it’s a keeper to my eyes.
It really was a bit of an awakening for me meeting so many fabulous inspirational women.
Thanks for allowing me the chance to do it with you!
bisous
Suzanne
Wonderful words from Suzanne! And gorgeous outfits for both of you. Come share at Visible Monday if you have a chance, x.
