Easy tips for winter going out outfits
Dressing for a night out can be difficult as it’s likely to be cold outside and the temperature inside will be much warmer. So, how do you make sure your outfit works for both temperatures?
Add a pair of tights
An easy way to make your existing looks a touch warmer is to add a pair of opaque tights. That way, you can continue to wear your dresses and skirts into the cooler months.

Wear boots instead of shoes
Simply switch your sandals for boots (you can wear over your tights) and you can make your outfit winter ready. If you want a dressier pair of boots, you could always look out for a pair with a block heel like the Jack Roger boot below.
Mix high and low
High-low dressing, where you mix formal and informal, is always useful for adding interest to your outfit, but it is particularly useful for winter. You could, for example, wear your dressy skirt with a sweater and pair of sneakers.
Wear a cozy coat
A touch of faux fur can add glamour to your outfit as well as ensuring you stay warm while heading to your dinner venue.

Dresses with sleeves
It’s unlikely you’ll want bare arms during the winter. Perhaps you don’t like to show off your upper arms anyway, and you’ll definitely want more than spaghetti straps so you can stay warm. A dress with sleeves means you won’t have to wear an extra layer of outerwear while indoors.

So, now that you’re thinking about how little changes can make your going out outfit winter ready, let’s take a look at some of the clothes, shoes and accessories you could choose to stay stylish and warm when going out this winter, and how you can put them together.
Winter going out tops
First, your tops. I would look for tops with longer sleeves to keep you warm. Ruching will be a flattering option, or you could also choose a graphic print.

Sweaters aren’t just for wearing with your jeans and sneakers. You can also wear your knitwear for an evening out. Look for choices with an unusual knit, or try an off-the-shoulder choice. Or, you could always wear your favorite sweater with a skirt and heeled booties to make it look more glamorous.

Winter going out jackets & coats
Of course, if it’s particularly chilly where you are, you’ll need a coat to get from home to your destination. You could look for a coat that you can leave on for the night, such as a blazer or a shorter option like a moto jacket. Winter going out pants & jeans
Of course, you can still wear your pants and jeans for an evening out. You don’t necessarily have to wear a dress or skirt (although you’ll find some of those below too).
Choose a pair of versatile black skinny jeans that will go with all of your tops, or look out for pants in luxurious fabrics. Or, you could choose a pair of on-trend wide leg pants or jeans, depending on how formal the venue you are heading out to is.

Winter going out shoes
Swap your shoes for boots if you want to stay warmer. But, opt for a more glamorous pair than your usual day-to-day boots. Or you could always choose a pair of metallic loafers if you don’t want to wear heels. If you do opt for heels and you’ll be on your feet for a while, block heels can be easier to stand and walk in.
