Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself?

Hi, I’m Beata, originally from Poland, married for 27 years and I have two gorgeous adult children! I love fashion and all things creative!

As a point of reference which age group do you belong to or perhaps you are willing to share your age?

Well… this year I turned 50. 🙂

Can you tell us a bit more about your blog Fashion Adventures At Any Age and why you created it?

I was inspired by other blogs! I discovered some women in my age group who were blogging and as I always loved fashion I thought to myself – why not try?! I started 3 years ago.

It was fantastic to connect with other women who share my passion in this way and I have been very lucky to meet some of them in real life. 🙂

How would you describe your own personal style?

I would say its classic with a bit of extravagant edge. I love classic cuts and styles but I also love to give them my own twist.

What would you consider the most important components of your style?

For me its shoes and bags! That’s how I accessorise as my jewellery is normally minimalistic.

Where do you live and how does that influence your style?

I have been living in London for over 13 years, it is a very fashionable city that loves individualism and creativity when it comes to style. The streets of London are a complete mixture of style and culture and I find it very inspiring!

I love living here and I also love the traditional English style as well as their humour. 🙂

Do you feel you have a signature style?

Those who visit my blog will probably know that one of my staples are sunglasses! I love them and find them a fabulous and versatile as an accessory.

What inspires your outfit choices the most?

I do browse fashion magazines but as mentioned before, I am greatly inspired by what I see on the street! Sometimes I just pick out something from the wardrobe that I like and build a whole outfit around it.

What is very important for me when choosing an outfit is paying attention to how I feel as comfort is very important to me.

Do you take things like color profiling or body type into account when you dress?

It is not the most important thing for me but I do recognise that I look better in certain colours or cuts. I do wear a lot of black but also pastels and sometimes even vibrant colours or prints, its all about how all these elements are put together.

What is your current body type and height and what are your best tips for dressing for these?

I am 168 cm tall. I am a bit larger on top than my bottom so theoretically I should not wear ruffled tops. However, I love them and so wear them anyway. 🙂

My weight also tends to fluctuate, so there are times when I prefer looser tops and layers rather than anything fitting. Ultimately I think it’s important how you feel. If you think you can make an outfit work, then you will!

Do you have any favourite brands?

Of course! I do like high street brands for basics or even when I like to experiment with a current trend. I think Zara is great for that. British brands like Hobbs or M&S are great for classics, and I also love thrift stores for vintage unique pieces.

Has your style changed at all after turning 40?

I noticed that I pay much more attention to how I feel in an outfit rather than how I look. It’s important for me to feel good in what I wear, both in terms of comfort and how it looks. I also think I am braver in trying new things, but this could be a result of blogging and the encouragement of the 40+ community 🙂

Do you believe in dressing ‘age appropriately’ and what does it mean to you?

I don’t think that fashion has an age limit! For me it’s important to be comfortable and to feel good. Of course it is important to consider the occasion you are dressing for in respect of appropriateness, but there is no need to overthink it. In the end it’s just clothes 🙂

Would you say that at this stage of your life you are now more, or less interested in fashion, style and the way you look?

I have always been very interested in fashion and it did not change after turning 40… or 50! I think that looking good makes a lot of women feel good and gives them extra confidence which is fantastic. It’s just that after 40 it’s more important that I think I look good, rather than the opinion of others 🙂

Why is the way you look important to you?

I love self the expression that fashion offers. I really value individuality and find fashion a really great tool for that as trends can be interpreted differently by different people.

Being able to add a current trend to my wardrobe (which may look like it is reserved for young women only)  and making it work, makes me feel great and current.

What is your beauty routine and what are your favorite beauty products

I admit that I am pretty bad at keeping a skincare routine so I keep it pretty simple and easy with a Vichy face cream. I love makeup though and stick to a fluid foundation, bronzer, mascara and some lip gloss.

Actually lately I started to wear red lipstick more often. I am a fan of YSL lipsticks and glosses!

Do you follow trends? And if yes, which trends excite you at the moment?

I don’t rigorously follow trends but I really like to add them into my outfits. Recently I discovered that I had lots of fun with the sporty trend, mixing trainers with an elegant dress for example. It’s great fun to try something new like that and I firmly believe that fashion should be fun. 🙂

Do you have any fashion and style tips for women over 40?

Ladies, the most important thing is your self esteem!

If you love yourself and you feel great, you will look fabulous in anything. In the end it’s just clothes, what matters is how you feel inside 🙂 Don’t forget the importance of a healthy diet and exercise, which makes you feel amazing, and it will show 🙂

What are your plans for your blog and how do you see it develop over the coming years?

I think time will tell how my blog develops. For now I would like to be more disciplined and post more frequently. I am very excited about the growing 40+ community!

The women I have met through blogging are strong, inspiring and extremely supportive of one another, I would like to see the community gain more influence and recognition in the wider fashion world 🙂
