Culottes are making a real comeback this season and this is how I will be embracing the trend.
These are not quite culottes but they are wider cropped pants and have a similar vibe.
I liked wearing them in this monochrome way combined with my leather top. Blue heeled sandals enhance the look and diminishes the shortening leg effect of the wider cropped pants.
I always combine these wider pants with shorter tops. It is important to show the shape of your body and ideally highlight your waist. This top is short and has a waisted silhouette, so perfect for these pants.
To add a bit of color to the outfit I added my multicolored Heleen van der Meer bag. Great for packing my camera along with me!
I also wore these wide cropped jeans with the white top I showed you last week for a more casual look with flats.
I like them better with heels though so the all-blue look is definitely my favorite.
Top: Cigno Nero
Pants and white top: In Good Company
Shoes: very cold
Bag: Mirjam Zwolsman
Will you embrace culottes or wide cropped pants this season?

OK, I like it and I even like it with the white top and the white flat sandals, but this is a style I find too difficult for myself. There are other options left so I chicken out.

Plenty of other options for sure!
I also like the first monochrome look better. I’m even taller than you, 5’9″, so could probably pull this off. I will keep it in mind as I shop, but I can’t say as I’m completely sold on the idea.
Thanks! They are not the easiest pants to wear, and there are plenty of other pants options this season, so you could easily skip it.
Find these pants not easy to style and your did an excellent job Sylvia, love the first one the most. Sabina | Oceanblue Style
I have always been wary of cropped pants and capris but as Sylvia demonstrates so convincingly, the look is really fresh after so many seasons of slim cut pants. I bought some a few months ago and have been so surprised by how versatile they are with heels, wedges, and even fashion forward sneakers. Mine are straight cut and this same width; I’ve found them to be a surprisingly slimming silhouette with a glamorous 70s vibe.
Thanks, Sylvia for sharing your great styling tips here!

I was really hesitant about that style, Sylvia but you prove they are far from looking frumpy! Instead you give them a very trendy touch especially with your cropped leather top.

Thanks Annette. They certainly require more styling attention, but I like a challenge!
Those look great on you Sylvia! I’d wear them, but I’d hem them up a bit since I’m shorter than short! jodie

These look nice on you. I’m still wary of them given I’m so much shorter than you.

Love!
This is a great summer look! I love the blouse and the color! These pants are something women should try on before they discount them…some will find they look better than they expected.
I think those are lovely. Especially like it with the blue shoes. I’m curious how tall you are. I’m 5’2″ and my experience is those make me look short. You appear to be taller and they make you look very thin.
I’m about 5’7” Yes wide cropped pants can be tricky to wear and you have to proportion them well. You may still be able to do it when you wear a high or cropped top with them and higher heels in the same color as I did here.
