Everyday outfits to stay stylishly comfortable any day of the week

Often it’s easier to dress for a special occasion because you probably start thinking about what you’re going to wear well in advance. But how about what you wear day-to-day? In this article you’ll find everyday outfits to make getting dressed stylishly a doddle any day of the week.

Why it can be harder to put outfits together everyday outfits

Without actually planning an outfit, it can be tempting to reach for the same few things every day. That can cause your outfits to become ‘boring’ and before you know it, you’re in a style rut.

By having an “everyday capsule” you don’t have to spend too long thinking about what you will wear, but you can still look good and add interest to your outfits.

That’s why I’ve put together the capsule below with clothes, shoes and accessories from Nordstrom Made brands to make sure you can put together countless everyday outfits with lots of style but little effort. Everyday tops

When it comes to the tops you pick out of your closet most often day-to-day, there’s probably a t-shirt in there, and at least one button-down shirt. This season, we like the layered look that featured on a lot of fall and winter designer runways, of layering your shirt under a knit vest.

I’d also add a top that is a little smarter so you can dress it up or down however you need to, such as a wrap top.

As most of you will be heading into cooler weather, you’ll definitely want a few sweater options among your everyday capsule.

The sweaters below incorporate many of the key trends for the new season. Knitted vests are particularly on trend as are off-the-shoulder styles. Pink was also a major color trend on the catwalks and will add a pop of color on even the dreariest of days.

Now let’s move onto some outerwear. As fall tends to be a transitional season, you’ll probably need coats to give you a little warmth and protection from the elements, but which aren’t too bulky.

The denim jacket and athletic wrap jacket will be perfect for casual looks while you can add a slightly more formal element to your outfits with a blazer or a trench coat. I particularly like the plaid print on the back of the trench coat. You can see the front and back views here.

jeans and pants for your everyday outfits

You may tend to wear more pants when it is colder, or maybe you just add a pair of tights or leggings underneath your dresses.

Wide-leg pants are particularly on trend right now and will look good dressed up for evening with heels or worn day-to-day with your flats, wedges, boots or sneakers. However, I wouldn’t give up on skinnies altogether as they’re easy to tuck your booties or knee-high boots into.

dresses and skirts

All of the options below are bang-on-trend for the upcoming months. Sweater dresses were the knitwear of choice for many designers on their runways while olive green and bright pink are among the big color trends this season.

While you could easily dress up the pink skirt, I would wear it with boots or sneakers for more contrast. This skirt will definitely brighten up your day-to-day outfits. However, if you have a more fancy occasion for evening, just add a silk blouse and fancy shoes and you’re good to go.

You could also do this with the gray sweater dress. If you want to wear the sweater dress for evening, just adding heels and statement jewelry will elevate your outfit. For day-to-day it looks fabulous with booties or sneakers.

When it comes to footwear to wear with your day-to-day outfits, booties are always a good option for transitional weather. I would opt for one flat pair and one heeled. You can see that the Caslon booties (below) feature an on-trend lug sole.

I’d also add a pair of sneakers so that you can easily dress down your skirts and dresses for more casual days as well as wear them with your jeans. Plus, a pair of knee-high or over-the-knee boots will look good worn over your skinny jeans and leggings or worn under your skirts and dresses.

accessories

Even casual outfits always benefit from the addition of some stylish accessories. I would think about adding a hat to make a statement, or a colorful print scarf to make an impact.

A statement chain necklace will look good with your white shirt or sweaters, while you can easily wear a pair of small hoop earrings any day of the week. When it comes to your bags, you’ll want a casual, yet roomy and stylish option to fit in your everyday essentials. As a very practical person, I also like to have a backpack for day-to-day.

Your everyday outfits together in one capsule

Now that we’ve looked at the individual pieces of clothing and the shoes and accessories to look out for, how can you put these all together?

You can see some ideas below but of course there are many more possible combinations. I like the combination of gray and on-trend pink. The pink also goes well, and is a little unexpected, with the olive green.

Prefer a more neutral capsule, just swap the pink for a more neutral color. The skirt is also available in many other colors, including black and black and white.

While there are 9 outfit ideas below to get you started, you can see that you could always play around with combinations to come up with many more looks.

For example, you could wear the pink sweater with the plaid pants, the white shirt would go with absolutely anything, and you could wear the olive green dress over the skinny jeans.
