What to wear for date night after 40 | 40plusstyle.com

For so many couples, date night is an integral part of what keeps the relationship on track. It’s an important occurrence that requires a nice look. But what should you wear?

Pulling together an outfit here or there is not such a difficult task, however, the frequency of date night can sometimes leave us feeling like we are quickly running out of options. Coming up with a date night look is challenging in and of itself, but there are added concerns of comfort and appropriateness that come into play. The 4 looks below can be helpful in relieving some of the stress of what to wear on date night.

1. Chic and comfortable

Although comfort is a goal, looking pulled together is still the main aim of getting dressed for date night. Free flowing wide leg pants will allow you to be comfortable while still looking dressed up. Because wide leg pants are not restrictive, you will be free to enjoy whatever activities the night may bring. The print of the pants lends itself to a dressier look and they are currently on-trend. The solid black silk top against the busyness of the snake-print pants, keeps the look wearable. The statement necklace and crystal earrings are just the touch needed to add some class. Simple strappy sandals are a great touch to complete the look.

2. Bohemian chic

The simplicity of this outfit is what makes it work. This look is centered around a loose and airy kaftan style top. This top works paired with either a straight leg or a more wide leg pant. Jeweled sandals and bangles compliment the black and white mix and add a little glam to the simple combo. The rose drop earrings play up the black in the look which prevents the jeweled elements from becoming overbearing. Keeping the entire feel dressy and date night appropriate, is the structured handbag which brings it all together.

3. Romantic class

If date night calls for a dressy ensemble, this look will definitely answer the call. It appears fussy, but it is actually very simple to pull together. The floral print dress is the focal point and because the dress has a print that is so eye catching, all the accessories should play the back ground. Nude strappy sandals, a nude clutch and simple accessories is all that needs to be added. This will keep the look crisp and prevent it from looking tacky. Simple perfection.

4. Chic and easy

If you want a pulled together look that you can accomplish quickly, go for a simple shift dress and then enhance it with accessories and the right shoes. If you have a simple cut shift dress with a fun print – life doesn’t get any easier! Adding a great pair of strappy sandals or trendy flats will bring the look to life.

With a loose fitting shift dress, heeled sandals or gladiator flats are both equally fabulous. For an easy add-on and to make the look a little less basic, try a boxy handbag with minimal detailing and chunky jewelry and be on your way to a great date night.

My favorite is the first look. Those pants are really awesome.

My “go to” for date night is not to spend too much time getting ready. It’s my husband’s pet peeve, and a sure way to get the evening off on the wrong foot. LOL
