It’s easy to be drawn to glitzy party clothes in the run up to the festive season. And, there’s definitely nothing wrong with treating yourself to a new party dress.
However, the fact is, you’re likely to need more casual outfits than formal attire (particularly this year!). That’s why we’ve also recently given you a lot of casual party outfits ideas.
For the even more casual days you will need the best casual winter outfits to keep you cozy and stylish all season.
Casual winter outfits
You’ll find tops, sweaters, coats, pants, dresses, shoes and accessories that you can wear in the upcoming season, but which are also timeless enough so you can wear them for many years to come.
Below, there are 20 items of clothing, 4 pairs of shoes and 6 accessories which should be perfect for casual winter days.
Casual winter tops
When it comes to your winter tops, you probably immediately think of sweaters (and I look at those next). However, you are likely to want more variety than just your knitwear.
Look out for long-sleeved tops to stay warm. You can always layer your sweaters over your collared shirts.
We’ve chosen an on-trend checked shirt which you can wear buttoned up, or you could wear with a column of color underneath such as a black pair of jeans and top, or cream pants and top and leave open as a jacket.
A white shirt will layer under everything while you can wear the asymmetric tunic over leggings or skinny jeans. Choosing ruching on a top will add a point of difference.
Kimba @kimbalikes above opts for a layered knitwear look to stay warm.
Casual winter sweaters
Now onto one of the most important staples for your winter wardrobe; your sweaters.
A pop of red can be a stylish way to add some brightness to your day. While many sweaters come in block colors, you can also think about a timeless print such as stripes.
Longer sweaters will look good worn with your leggings or skinny jeans.
You can also think about cardigans and ponchos to layer over your outfits.
Choose long length open cardigans to create long, lean, slimming lines. You could emphasize your waist with a belt. And, you can also add a cardigan to your athletic wardrobe; to pop on during a walk or run, or after your exercise session.
Casual winter coats
Of course, when the weather gets really chilly, your sweater or cardigan alone won’t be enough to keep you warm.
Having a variety of coat styles in your closet will mean you’re ready for any occasion. You could wear any of the coats below with your favorite jeans or you could dress up the fur collar coat or the quilted coat.
Jeans and pants
Most of you are likely to wear jeans and pants more often in the cooler months than your dresses and skirts. A pair of leather or faux leather pants will keep you on trend, while jeans and warm leggings are timeless choices.
Plus, as you will want to spend some time relaxing at home, I’d also add a pair of lounge pants to your casual winter capsule.
Dresses, jumpsuits and skirts
While you may reach for your jeans more often than a dress, that’s not to say that dresses and skirts should be removed from your winter wardrobe!
Choose a sweater dress or knitted skirt to stay warm. You could add a sweater to a pleated or full skirt outfit. Just wear your opaque tights underneath and you can make your look winter ready.
And, of course, if you really don’t want to give up your pants, you could always choose a jumpsuit that you can dress up or down.
Shoes and boots
Boots will be the most practical (and most stylish) option for your winter outfits. Lace-up boots with chunky soles are particularly on-trend this season. But they’re also timeless enough so you can continue to wear them for seasons to come.
Plus, when winter turns to spring, you can always wear your boots with lighter weight dresses..

Casual winter accessories
During any season, accessories can give your outfits extra oomph. However, they’re particularly important during the winter to make sure you are warm as well as staying stylish.
We’ve added pops of red as well as muted grays to the accessory collection below, as well as classic prints such as checks and animal print.
