#40plusstyle inspiration: all black - Choose your favorite from 26 looks! | 40plusstyle.com

We talk often about the versatility of all black outfits and how combining different textures, lengths, and cuts creates a dramatic (and oftentimes effortless) chic look.

Here are some black monochromatic looks spotted in the streets of New York that we just had to share.

1. Elegant coat and booties

You’ll remember our article on ankle boots and the many ways to wear them. We love the simplicity here and how the chic bow on the toe of the boots adds a finishing touch that softens up the severity of all black and black high heel ankle boots. It’s a monochrmatic approach to sweet and spicy.

2. Thigh high boots

Thigh high boots are a style choice that can either look instantly chic or highly inappropriate. This fashionista hit the nail on the head by pairing it with the right black tops that are the perfect length and enough skin to keep the look tasteful.

3. Fur cape and leather leggings

The look above is a great combination of diverse texture (feather, wool, metal, and leather) and length (cape, longer top, ankle and boots). Covered from neck to toe with varying amounts of leather and in all black, she looks anything but demure.

4. Romantic rocker chic

The studded leather jacket makes this look rocker tough, but she makes it whimsical and charmingly chic with an unexpected feather embellished veil and matching tulle adorned skirt. We also love the seamless blend of the leather leggings and ankle boots with a whit scarf to soften the look.

There are many great examples in this post of all black. None of them is totally mine though. Strange!!! I love the second one. That used to be my style. The boots are awesome but I will not show that much upper leg anymore, so that is out too. Never mind I know how to work black.
