Thomas Tait fashion show in Singapore

I know that many of you are not really into fashion shows. You find the fashion too far fetched, too expensive or the models too thin. All of that is often true of course, but I STILL like to show you the pictures of a recent fashion show I attended at Singapore’s annual Audi Fashion Festival.

As some of you DO really appreciate these kind of shows as much as I do and have written to me how inspirational you found pictures I shared from previous shows like those of Guo Pei.

Although you may not want to wear these outfits as shown yourself, they can still give you lots of inspiration. Look for interesting silhouettes, the way fabrics are draped, the color combinations used or just admire the art of it.

Thomas Tait is a fashion designer from Montreal, Canada, who just recently won the prestigious LVMH Young fashion designer award, a prize given to the most promising young fashion designer of the year. His 2014 Fall/Winter collection is characterized by lots of color and asymmetrical shapes and here are some of the highlights!

Yes it is inspiring. The pleats are interesting and the boldness of the colors feels new to my eyes. I think the last picture with the skirt and blouse plus the blue boot is really cool and seems the most wearable. I like seeing clothing as art because it defines new directions fashion will move in the upcoming season of wearable styles.

Great to hear Ann! Very much agree with you.

Thank you, thank you for sharing this! I have a degree in fashion, and have always felt that clothing is a beautiful expression of art and creativity! I think people often feel that the looks shown on the runway don’t translate into real life, but I feel they are meant as inspirations. Styles always trickle down from there until we can wear them in “everyday” life! I love Thomas Tait’s use of color – so beautiful!

So very true Lana and great to read that you enjoyed these images!

I love fashion shows and watch all of them. I agree that they are a superb source of inspiration. Moreover, watching all the current fashion shows helps me stay current in my attire, which I prefer to do.

Personally I think it is a shame that the clothes people actually wear are in most cases very far from what is seen on the catwalks. I personally try to dress creatively. To me it’s more fun.

I appreciate you showing us these fashion shows. The blouse (if I may call it that) of photo number 3 and the outfit of photo number 9 you could easily sell to me. Living in The Netherlands I have trouble seeing this as fall/winter clothes though.
