Sporty clothes that you can wear as loungewear or outside the house

Loungewear is an important topic that I haven’t discussed much on this site. These are the clothes we wear at home and I think they are just as important as our outside clothes. Wanting to feel good about yourself doesn’t stop when you’re inside the house and nice clothes help with that.

Of course, lounge clothes need to be comfortable first and foremost. But you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for style as these images will show you.

You also don’t have to pick clothes that are just for loungewear. It’s much more fun to pick clothes that you can wear for casual occasions outside the home too. With the athleisure trend now big in stores, it’s never been easier to pick super comfy clothes that you can wear both in and outside the house.

The new Athleisure collection from Stella Carakasi is a good example of that. These clothes have a very sporty vibe and are great for loungewear purposes but will look also super stylish outside the house.

The light top I’m wearing here is a great layering piece. It’s super soft and silky and therefore super comfy for home. Be aware though that this fabric will show every roll on your body so it’s more suited as a layering piece.

It looks beautiful with this jacket. Super stretchy and comfortable and with great design details.

The pants are in the same fabric, soft silky and beautiful for both in and outside the house.

I’m looking forward to wearing this jacket in summer in Europe.

Below I’m pairing the jacket with knee high pants which are a great item for summer. These are stretchy but rather than hugging the legs completely they skim my legs which makes them super flattering and ideal to wear outside as well. You can dress these up or down.

They also have a broad elastic band that is quite firm at the belly area which does a great job of sucking the belly in!

This is a similar top  (now on sale) to the cream top I showed before but with a thicker cotton fabric. This fabric does not cling in any way so doesn’t show every bulge and is great to wear on its own or as a layering top.

If that combination is too cool, you can layer it with a cropped sweater (now on sale) or a longer cardigan or sweater. This is the new cropped sweater in their collection that I have ordered.

Here is another older top that I layered with this cropped sweater.

I love being comfortable inside the house so am a big fan of comfy but stylish loungewear.

How about you? Do you wear loungewear at home?

Do you use items that you can wear outside the house as well?

Love that coat! I have an Eileen Fisher one very similar. It’s nice light weight for where i live and it packs well. You can dress it up or down….very versatile.

That sounds ideal!

I love all the looks you show, but none of them would suit my petite, hourglass body. I find that either slim fit or boot cut yoga pants paired with any kind of form fitting, comfortable top (that ends just at the top of my hips) looks good on me.

I don’t stray far from that, and would love to see some looks for other body types as inspiration.

Petites can look really good with longer tops too, so long as you get the proportions right.

I love that cropped top/ grey cropped jumper on you Sylvia – it’s inspired me to find a similar look

Cropped tops are becoming even more important now with all high waisted / cropped pants looks and they’re great for layering too. Hope you find a good one Sue!
