Post Holiday wear part 4

Here is my new Japanese kimono jacket. Made of silk in 1930.
Making such a jacket was such a time consuming art (and expensive) that it was meant to be used for generations and stored very very carefully in cupboards where no light could damage the silk.
I bought it in a very good antique shop in Antwerp. Actually my husband gave it to me. He keeps buying me stuff. The sweetheart.
So I am very careful with this jacket.
My husband says that he likes the jacket worn closed or open, either way, but he doesn't like the necklace with it.
What do you think?

What a magnificent gorgeous jacket Greetje! So unique. I like it both closed and open too. I tend to agree with your husband that the necklace distracts a bit from the jacket which deserves all the attention. You can still wear it, but it makes the look a bit busy. Since you already wear 3 other pieces of jewelry I would just stick to that and the bag, which makes this a superbly elegant look. Beautiful!

I love the story behind it but definitely prefer the closed version and would even love to see it with a belt to make it more feminine. Open it reminds me too much of pajama's, sorry.

Aha, but the pajama-style is very hot. So this season I can get away with it.
I will try a belt, but I am afraid it might spoil the jacket as it wasn't made to wear with a belt.

Although I like it very much as it is, the suggestion to try a belt, preferably a red one, is a good one....Kimono's in general ARE meant to be worn with a belt, but maybe not this one? I am only afraid that wearing a belt will give you the well-known problem of the kimono creeping up all the time, leaving you pulling it down all the time;-).

Perhaps a belt made of silk as well. The one you can bind round you. I think the necklace looks japanese, so the style combination is good.
