I have suffered by negative comments. Unlike what you might think, I am sometimes insecure about myself and my outfits. Fortunately it hasn't stopped my at all. LOL.
Therefore I put to you this statement:
when in doubt, just put on a confident face. As if you are saying that what you are wearing is the highlight of the season. Act it out.
As I think it is more our own doubt that brings on negative comments than the outfit itself. Like in the animal world: when one animal shows signs of weakness, another will immediately profit from that and lash out. It is instinct.
And the ones giving negative comments are our own sort: women. Perhaps also instinct? From way back?

(Don't get me wrong. I invite everybody at other enterings on this forum, to react on my clothes and don't think you are mean or anything. I trust you and I do want honest advice, no flattery. But that is comment I ask for, not unsolicited comment.)

The opposite is true also. If I wear an outfit I feel fabulous in, it doesn't really bother me if others say it's not nice. In the end we all have different tastes. Although, of course, I would rather receive compliments!

But you are right. If you chose to wear something, you will have to wear it with confidence. Without that it will never look great. I think that this is the exact same tip that Tim Gunn also mentions in his book; if you don't feel confident, fake it!

An article on confidence has been in the planning for quite some time now, but I just don't seem to get around writing it. I think it's one of the most crucial elements of great style!

I have to admit that I sometimes lack confidence when I go out in an outrageous hat for instance. Still, I stand by my statement. And posting photos of outfits has a lot to do with an extroverted caracter haha.

Since my budget has become tight, I am going to focus on my grooming, i.e., my makeup and giving myself a manicure...instead of doing something else with my time before I head out to do errands.
