Women often tell me that they cannot look good or dress well because they are not thin enough. I always tell them that any woman can dress well, no matter what her size (or for that matter age) is. However, not having a plus size myself I am often not believed. That is why I am always excited to see great examples of plus size women dressing extremely well.

I was very happy to discover Delilah recently whose motto is that fabulous style has no size or age limit. I can only agree. Let’s find out more about this stylish blogger!

Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself?

I am a wife, mom to a college student, and a small business owner. I am a bit of a technology junky and will try just about anything once. In high school my history teacher told us that most people will not go outside a ten mile radius their entire life. That had a profound impact on me as I decided that I would never be like that. As a result, I think that I am spontaneous, adventuresome and one day would love to travel cross country and blog about that experience. For now, I am blogging about my passion which is fashion (that’s so cliche, I know).

Can you tell us a bit more about your blog Pumps and Studz and why you created it?

I have been following blogs for about two years and noticed the lack of bloggers 40+ who were also plus sized. Pumps and Studz was created to inspire women that you can be plus, mature, fabulously styled, and confident!

How would you describe your own style?

I wouldn’t say that I have a particular style because I can be boho, bold, glam, urban, or even preppy at times, it depends on my mood. The consistent adjective about my style is ‘chic.’ I believe that I am fashionable without being a slave to fashion and yet not afraid to take risks.

Where do you live and how does that influence your style?

I relocated from one of the most stylish citys, New York to Denver, where I currently reside, and it was an adjustment.  Aside from work-wear most Denver natives, that I have encountered are either extremely casual and/or sporty, but living here has not changed my style aesthetic at all. 😉

Do you take things like color profiling or body type into account when you dress?

I would say sometimes to both; I love color and wearing the right colors make you look fresh, vibrant, and alert, but that doesn’t mean I won’t wear other colors at times.

The same goes for dressing my body type. I am top heavy or inverted triangle shaped but on my blog you will find me in clothes ‘the fashion gods” suggest that I stay away from such as: bright colors on top, skinny jeans, pencil skirts, and bold prints, but you can also find me with garments which compliments my body shape such as Aline and circular skirts. I say know what works for you and if you want to step away from those “guidelines” and you feel confident, Go For It!

I like the tag line of your blog: fabulous style has no size or age limit. I think you are a perfect example of that! What are your secrets for dressing your curvy body type?

Style transcends ages and size so know your body shape, accentuate your curves and best features, and don’t be afraid of color!

Has your style changed at all after turning 40?

Yes, I used to be super trendy and a slave to fashion and I have the closet to prove it..from six inch heels to clothes that still have tags on them because they were on the ‘five things you need this summer’ list. As I have matured, I still love being fashionable and will keep up with the trends but with a critical eye. I have become more practical with my purchases which has resulted in a more wearable and timeless wardrobe.

Which of the outfits on your blog are personal favorites and why?

This is one my favorite outfits because it’s my go to look.

I also love these 2 colorful outfits. As plus size women we are told to stay away from bold prints and color, which in my opinion would be quite boring because I love color and prints!

Do you follow trends? And if yes, which trends excite you at the moment?

As a fashion blogger, I feel that’s it’s my job to follow and keep up with the latest trends. Fashion is ever changing and I never want to get stuck or too comfortable wearing the same thing, styled the say way, season after season. You don’t have to jump on the band wagon of everything that’s trending but pick the best details and tailor it to your style. At the moment, mixing prints excites me because its daring and bold, I also love the mid-length full skirts that are trending because they are classy and versatile.

Do you have any fashion and style tips for women over 40?

Sometimes, as we age, we tend to get stuck in a style rut and just go with what works. Don’t be afraid to mix things up or change things altogether. It could be something simple like a new shade of lipstick, a bold accessory, or a new hair color; sometimes small changes can keep you modern and your wardrobe fun and exciting.

What are your plans for your blog and how do you see it develop over the coming years?

I would love to see my blog develop into a community where women can be inspired and celebrate being fabulous regardless of size or age.

Anything further you would like to add?

Thank you for creating this wonderful community for women!
